Lerk Spikes Bugged?

I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to be, but it seems odd to me.
I was spectating a game and saw a lerk firing spikes at a turret standing beyond a marine res tower. The spikes were flying "through" the res tower (hitting the model, but not at the "core part" that is solid) and hitting the turret. The odd thing is that the res tower took damage (and quite a lot of damage, it seemed), while the turret stood unscratched.
I've also noted as marine that sometimes spikes do no damage at all and sometimes they just rip me apart. The same goes for OC spit, btw. A couple of times I've been firing away at a bunch of OCs with a HMG, unloaded a full clip and taken no damage at all even when I see that I've been hit.
Anyways, sorry if this has been brought up already, just wanted to know if this is how it's supposed to be.

as for the lerk it always hurts me badly but as for it hitting the rt and not the sg's, i think but am not 100% sure that the spikes bend ie fall due to gravity might not be but looks like it to me , anyway there are some minor hit-boxs problems in NS but i dont think u can miss sg's just aim for there base.
P.S. i find it funny people who run out infront of the offy towers thinking its in anyway as safe as ducking and shooting the half u can c. u can take out walls and walls and walls of offy towers this way! (just need the ammo )
Is this a bug?
Spikes, acid bombs, and many other projectiles actually fly through parts of the turret (most noticably the head top part). But if you watch the turrets health, it actually goes down as if hit, when this happens. So even though the spikes are appearing to fly through the turret top, in actual fact they are hitting it. The spikes graphically continue to travel through and hit the object behind / hit the wall / a marine, but do no damage because in reality, serverside, they already hit the turret.

Hate to say it, but i think you are missing.
The spikes actually hit the turret, indicated by those small spike splashes all over the turret. No damage to the turret, but damage was dealt to the res.machine where no splashes were visible. Do spikes only deal damage to targets which they pass through and not those you hit directly? It's weird..
And no, it can't have been lag. It went on for too long and my netgraph looked much too clean (I usually never play on servers where I get more than 60-80 ping and a bit of packetloss) for it to be some weird lag issue.

Spikes are just tracer rounds. They don't actually do any damage. The spikegun is actually like the Marine machinegun... it's a hit-scan weapon with instant-hit capabilities... the visible dart that you see is just a tracer... I imagine it's there so marines can tell where the hell they're being attacked from.
The "bullets" from the spike gun don't actually arc at all... they go right where the crosshair is. I know this is the case because many times I've fired at marines down a long hall way, just to have the tracer-spikes fall short and hit the ground, but I still get the kill on a marine.
You'll notice all kinds of oddities if you try to aim the with the tracer-spikes... stuff not taking damage, or taking too long to kill.
Trust me... just use the crosshairs. That's where the REAL bullets go.
