in NS2 General Discussion
I played the test engine, and this looks like its been slapped together in a week. What were you people doing all this time? Office space shopping with our money? This is pathetic to say the least. The physics are primitive, the gun sounds like a diarrhea coming from a mexican, and worst of all you are not anywhere near completion of this thing.

If you cant make an engine by yourself why did you undertake this? You are wasting everyone's time and money on some mediocracy that was doomed to fail from the start.

    Engine test -> alpha -> beta -> release.

    Perhaps you should read what the test engine is actually for. Instead of ranting, and thinking that this is what NS2 is going to be like. It's to test to see exactly how the engine works on a wide range of computers. To see what needs to be worked on.

    Do you not understand that this is NOT an alpha, it's not meant to show off anything at all except maybe the ability they give us with Lua. They have far more implemented in their actual game if you had read the actual post about the engine test you would know this.

    This is not in ANY way the final game, this is an engine test. The engine test is basically a mod that is separate from the game of NS2, made to test the engine and that is it. Natural Selection 2 is something completely different from the Engine test.

    If the engine test was all they had finished, I'd be incredibly disappointed as well. The truth is that they have MANY more parts of the game, some ready some not, that they aren't giving us yet because making sure that the engine WORKS for everyone is more important than everything else.

    I have to keep reminding myself this when I start thinking about their timeline. Just look at their reveal videos- they have much, much more done than a marine walking about shooting at pop-up targets. From the looks of it, movement animations are pretty far along for most of the classes. That's not to say that they don't have many, many more hours of grinding before the game will be polished enough for even an Alpha release, but UWE does have a version of NS2 behind the scenes much farther along than the marine + unanimated skulk release they gave us to <b>test their engine</b>.
