I got considerable slow downs when the Skybox was rendered.
When put into wireframe mode, some chunks of the level would render when not visible.

This pre-alpha is very resource hungry. No way it's "the same system requirements of Half-Life 2", as stated by UWE before.
Team Fortress 2 runs very well in 1280x800 with HIGH settings here, but this pre-alpha needs a 720x480 and MEDIUM texture detail to be playable here.

I am running at the same resolution I run L4D2, HL2, and Team Fortress 2 at, with visual detail set to high, and I'm getting playable results. Also as you noted it is "pre-alpha". I'm sure optimizations will come.

I hope this engine test is very unoptimised, because I get about 30-35 FPS on the lowest settings at 1680x1050.

The cheapest nVidia will run most games just fine.
