Okay so I'm actually happy with this now. I put effort in to the lighting and it seems it looks a lot better. Thanks for the non-white tip dux.

The lightning setup is still pretty boring to me. Light props and pure white lights, doesn't breath NS.

I think the omnis far from the light props isn't a good way to go either.

Cion, add some banisters on the sides of the walk way covering the entire hallway, then I would also suggest adding some pipes going vertically after the two boxes or whatever you have. I'd add some computer screens next to the pipes followed by a series of wires coming from the roof down to the panel. Next, add two pipes covering only one side going horizontally, ending with two elbows going towards the outside.

If you'd like for me to do this for you, PM me.

Sorry for the huge size. This is my gravity stabilizer. WIP.

Nice job Tom! Here are my thoughts.

A little too blocky. Add some details.

A little too dark. Add some lights around the walls, and color them orange. Orange concurs that it's a hazardous/dangerous area.

    Is that the T-Mobile man?

that round vent thingy looks kinda out of place, but I do like the rest and the lighting...

    Thanks.

I'm satisfied with positively nothing in that screenshot, but it'll do for a start.

You might want to think about posting an in-progress shot with a lot of greyboxing around Sparkenstein in the Sparkenstein thread rather than the "Post your screenshots" look at me I got a nice piece of work thread.

I like it. The only thing I'd change is the pillars with the really squashed static meshes, they make it looks out of place and look way out of size.

And your node is too close to the back wall, pull it out around 64 more units towards the tech point.

I happen to like it. The pillars are good in my opinion, they don't need to be changed. The node however is indeed too close to the wall.
Good work... perhaps add some more detail here and there (in texture and in objects - add some crates or cables or some other stuff), but overall: good work!!

Node is fine, it is cornered by a big ledge and not a wall. It has space in "front" of it on the same floor level and has also space around it on the ledge level. I get the idea.

Very nice work there, actually, I'm pretty jealous of it.

    :P

Dammit, why don't you call it a handrail like everyone else. Ya made me spend my precious none combat time looking it up (I thought it was somekind of dumpster or container, which would be an odd thing to put there) :P

Information you probably dont need to know.

I think a banister has uprights
    <a href="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:HoVD9kST8abpRM:http://stuffnthings.info/wp-content/plugins/wp-o-matic/cache/2ed9c_banister.jpg" target="_blank">Banister</a>
    (epic banister btw)

and a handrail is attached the the wall
    <a href="http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:FAdtAR8QGYV-kM:http://www.ogis.com.au/images/gallery/balustrades_handrails/stainless_steel_handrail02.jpg" target="_blank">Handrail</a>

and again to keep the thread on topic.

Great work on the mapping. still boggles my mind

    The Handrail link is <b>unsafe</b>.
  • Chris0132Chris0132 Join Date: 2009-07-25 Member: 68262Members
Banisters are the bits that go up and down, the supports, the bit along the top is just called a handrail as far as I know.

If you have many banisters (or balusters) they're called a balustrade, and are usually topped with a wide flat railing along the top, usually seen on very old and expensive houses or mansions, and are usually made of stone.

In case you were wondering, which you probably weren't.

    It's an English-English and American-English thing.

Banisters are English-English for American-English hand rails.
