I still expect something like the crysis benchmark. Fly-through a level with entities, structures, units moving and some effects to see if it all runs fine.
Then you'd find hundreds of video of this on youtube the next day :P

...Isn't that what they're doing? I thought that was the whole point of the test- it's starting out small, then gets a wide release "soon" to try to get glitches out of the way before the Alpha. I don't think I was speaking against making it bigger, just defending why I thought starting out small shouldn't offend anyone.

i wonder if the engine test will be used for us to test out custom maps so we can do a fly through of them or will there only be a single map that we will be able to explore?

It'd be nice if it supported custom maps. Then if the networking protocols are in there at all, maybe someone could make some silly maps and see if we can't break the physics ala surfing or some NS_ReadyRoom type maps. :P

What the heck are you talking about? Please be coherent next time.
He's saying it's been over two weeks since the "engine test soon" announcement. What he's not realizing is that it has already started with a small body of testers, as announced.
Eh.. I'm not getting my new computer til next weekend so I can wait :) I highly doubt UWE, as caring as they are, really wants/needs a usage report from me running on my laptop. I imagine there are a ton of people with Core2Duo/ATI laptops to test the game out on.
Seriously, though- I'm kinda hoping for the Engine to be wide released this Friday.. Or the fade reveal. If both come on the same day... Oh sweet Jesus.

Wrong, you could still be invited due to the fact that they require tests to be done on low end machines. They can't just have high end machines because they are trying to make a game run on a wide-range amount of computers. You could still be picked even though you don't have what's up to date!

Yeah, your getting worked up over a flipping engine test.
I heard Charlie is going to open Silly Babblers Gorghocolate Factory.
I also heard TSA Vets are only invited as well.

"We're sorry but only 6500 people were invited to the engine test and you're not in this group. Better luck next time!"
Damn I can't wait for the playable alpha/beta.

No justice in the world.
They wouldn't torture us like that.......would they? :'(
