Well anything that looks close enough to the Giger alien scary look needs to be that way. The hard chitin bug like carapace similar to beetle, preying mantis, spider, etc. These are not fur covered cuddly looking things.

It's cute, no doubt about it. But c'mon, it's a Gorge! It kind of has to be cute. But don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to face one for real without firearms.

There's reason to believe that, but I assure you, there is a difference between graphics and art.
If UWE was just spending their days toiling on the engine and making it push polygons and superduper maps and crazy particle effects, that'd be one thing. However, focusing on the models, the design, and animation is important. Games (good ones, anyway) have to have a certain feel to them. Without that feel, or if the feel is done incorrectly, immersion doesn't happen.

We've talked a bit about wanting to put out an Art of book for NS2. Ideally it would have more of the process stuff, such as some of the various exploratory sketches before final designs were arrived at, and not just for the concept art, but showing models, textures, etc, as well. But, it takes a significant amount of time to put together, and a significant amount of money to print, so kind of on the wishlist of things to do after release, at this point.

I'd totally get one of those, hell I could use some new wall pictures if it comes to that, I could always blow one up and frame it.
We need to also consider the fact that this is going to be a MULTIPLAYER game. That's a lot to send back and forth to clients especially if it's going to be on steam... I could understand if there was to be some kind of single player or story mode, which I would splat myself over!

The game doesn't really care if you use a 1000 or 10000 poly model from a networking standpoint, the only things you transmit over the network are things that change, the world doesn't change, or at least most of it doesn't. The animations, texutres, particles, models etc, they all stay the same, and if they change they usually just play a different animation which affects the gameplay somehow, in which case you only need to send 'play this animation' over the network whenever it's something other than a purely visual change.
The only difference between a multiplayer and a singleplayer game is that in multiplayer some of the NPCs are remote controlled over the internet and they're called 'players' most everything else is still run only on your machine.

Of course not! Best alien design i've ever seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSYftLYJZd0 ;)
While watching the Vid, of the Harvester and his death, one thing flashed my mind: It would be nice, if the Harvester would actually spill something out. And since the Balloon-like part seems to flatten, maybe some translucend Liquid or Gas would be looking nice.

If you don't agree that's fine, but please, stop making yourself look silly with insults and 4chan like behaviour. It's not big, it's not clever.

What are you talking about? I'm being constructive after the Compy's temp ban for disagreeing, so I'm not insulting anyone, actually. But who are you to tell how the people must behave over the internetz again? Are you Comprox Jr? I'm pretty sure there are some intelligent individuals, the problem is that seems like they aren't posting in this thread or do not post at all. Wondering why.
i think if we could actually shoot that big orange ball and watch it pop like a balloon would be pretty sweet. maybe like watch this goo leak out of it as it died.
Comments
I liked them when they were orange. :p
