    Select vertices that are overlapping, Edit Menu, Weld Vertices. If the vertices are close enough to each other they'll be combined.

    Ok thank you, so you have to manually move the vertices you want to weld into the right position so they overlap.

    Hum.. calm down dude, the editor works like a charm, I've been mapping for 2 months only and outputting real good from this thing, I don't know about hammer but this pre-alpha program is just fine and the updates keep coming.

    In my view I'm patient because I'm a programmer and I know what kind of some difficulties Max have with this great engine. Look this level editor !
    Have you see something like that before ? So beautiful !

    I too am frustrated, cant get it even running either I certainly hope I do not have same problem with alpha. As for hammer I cannot say anything best thing I ever did with that thing was solid flying water.

    Hey, just got the update 131 but did not finish loading , so just did it with the editor shortcut not the launchpad shortcut. It worked but now the launchpad shortcut says this as far as the build update 130 not 131.

    <img src="http://i47.tinypic.com/12343ud.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

    Also I see the new hive with the onos and skulk models, for some reason I did not get the new hive in my update is this true for anyone else.

    Hey maximus, the same thing happened to me.
    Model::RenderEmissive() - Vertex buffer or index buffer null (models/alien/hive/hive.model), skipping.
    hmmm... redownloading ns2_setup.exe.

    well i think the hive thing is all im missing, and my launchpad is like maximus'.

    I would be happy if i couldn't run it. But i can and it runs fine everything is fine but the little bugs that takes to fix like 1h on little 8 x 16 unit face is just to much for me.
    I really want to map but i just can't

    WOW! So this week, I finally get around to looking at the UW website to find I am getting a free game and that the shadow/lighting issues are finally fixed!!!! Best late Christmas present ever!

    I do have a question though... has anyone done one of <a href="http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5821" target="_blank">these</a> for all the new overgrowth guys? If they can welcome us so nicely then maybe we should get some marine sprit on and welcome them... <b><u>official webbed welcome thread please</u></b> :)

    Otherwise I'll do it when I get back home later today or tomorrow.

    Well if you can't map try to find something else your good at. Modeling, Texture Creation, Etc.

    for the people with problem with black textures and old ATI cards I think i have a fix for Max. Put in something in the settings menu to turn on/off Ambient Occlusion. I think this will fix the issue because its trying to use PS/VS 3.0, something the older ATI cards dont have.

    This one and the last were great updates!

    So far extrude has been really useful. The paint texture from another surface has also been real useful.

    I did a quick test with the weld tool to see how that would effect on the geometry. I selected all vertices and welded. I'm pretty messy with faces, some are copied, some are extruded, some come from the line tool. So I was wondering if I may lose faces in the weld process, and how many vertices I would save, it went from roughly 1600 vertices to 600! And no face was lost! And my room has become one giant model which is much more effective with vertice manipulation and using the line tool on existent geometry.

    All in all a great addition that works well with the rest!

    <img src="http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/8660/modelfu.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
    A little pic of the room im working on on which I did my test.

    p.s. I also really love those flash images on the computers!
    Very nice update! very nice work UWE!

    I've found that with geometry there are never any crashes/bugs. Its once you start having props and lights in and jump from one to the other that crashes happen more often. Try working with geometry first, as if you were working with hammer! Instead you work on a face instead of working on a brush. And test a little prop here and there to get and idea of what the final room might look like.
