Didn't think to post this earlier, but anyone who has tried Milkshape will know the worst thing about it is the lack of a proper "Select stuff in 3D" option, there is now a plugin for this at Chumbalumbasoft, you want MSSelectioneditor, about halfway down the news page.
Not perfect, but handy, and now available in DX8 flava..

As I have left the forum, I can't perform any necessary upkeep on the main post. If any mods would be kind enough to take the reins that would be grand.
Xanieth, i think i already told you in a another topic, anywho....u have a few ways, one is to use the move tool to drag the two vertices where u want them, make them very close, then select the two and do a WELD SELECTED, it should weld the vertices, if they are close enough together, Another way is to use WELD TARGET, basically goof around with welding....and see how it works, and ull be golden.

Quick update.
This site ( http://mojo.gmaxsupport.com/Sections/MaxScripts.html ) is already linked in the sticky, but I wanted to bring it back to people's attention because it contains a working SMD Export script for 3ds max R6. It's the only one I know of.
I'm having trouble getting the de/compiler set up. I have the studiomdl.bat edited and pointed to the right place. I go to Tools->Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. Scroll down the the QC entry: its not there. I creat a new file type, qc extention and associate it with notepad. Now I no longer have any advanced options for it, only restore and change, which means I can't add a decompile action. Changing to administrator doesn't add any more options. (I'm using Windows 2000).
I think the only way I'm going to get this to work is to modify the studiomdl.bat to run directly on each qc I want to compile.
Is it
CODE
studiomdl.exe %1 (Location of QC to compile) pause

http://www.polygods.com does not work, I asume the site is down or something along those lines. BUT I did find a Mirror to the tutorials that where on the site. Please add this link to the list, I found the tutorials extremely helpful to me.
If I could be a bird, I'd be a Flying Purple People Eater because then people would sing about me and I could fly down and eat them because I hate that song.
I'm new to the board, and I didn't see this mentioned (which doesn't mean it has or hasn't been), but 3DBuzz has something cool called 'VTMs' or 'Video Training Magazines'. Anyway, one of thier freely downloadable cd's is on modeling a weapon for UT, including skins/etc -- You guys might find it usefull--I know I did.
Given many people don't post in here any more and many of the links in this thread are dead (lol, last post in this thread is 5 years ago!), here are a few links to some active development communities with great tutorials on how to create your works of art and bring them to life.
Most common programs to use now now days for your 3d work are 3DS Max and Maya, zbrush is popular for bringing detail to your models, and photoshop is always the best for your 2d work
