Social networking blocked

in NS2 General Discussion
Our company, along with many businesses and schools, blocks access to social networking sites like Twitter. However, they do not block access to other sites (like <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com" target="_blank">UW</a>) -- and permit us to access any unblocked sites during breaks.

This means that I cannot see any NS2 twitter updates sent by the UW team. This isn't a huge deal since I can see the info after work. Even so, it would be nice if the UW site directly hosted the messages, perhaps by mirroring the twitter updates, or just by making posts directly to the <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/" target="_blank">NS2 blog</a>.

    I think using a proxy is certainly against company policy and might even get me fired. Not willing to chance it.

    If the admin knows what he's doing you aint allowed to change the proxy settings anyway.
    if you find a relay proxy that's simply mirroring the entered address you don't have to fear anything as that is indeed legal as they didnt block the proxy.

    but i wouldnt use that as an excuse, its only <b>my</b> law understanding after all.

    It may be legal law wise, but quite illegal company policy wise. You are after all using a workaround to access non-work information they blocked in the first place, so you are jeopardizing your job.

    Personally I don't think it would be worth it to see the twitter updates, but that's just me.

    You can always check the Twitter Discussion Thread, someone eventually quotes the new twitter updates in that thread. Just an option.

    Do you have a cell phone?

    If you do, sign up for twitter and subscribe to the NS2 feed. There is an option to allow it to send your phone text messages with the updates to it. Quite snazzy
