Here are some commander demo's from season 6 of CAL. The team is Slot1.Hopefully this will help people who are getting into commanding. The real skill of a commander is displayed on ventrillo and not in the game. Knowing what the commander is thinking and more importantly how he is communicating is way more important than his meds or his tech path. Sadly this doesn't come through on demos, but hopefully people find them usefull anyway. Feel free to pm me in IRC if you are a new comm and want some tips, you can find me on irc.us.gamesurge.net in #findnsscrim.
Enjoy!
PS: Use "viewdemo filename" instead of "playdemo filename" It will work better and you get the control bar.

I only play with FULL SCANNING CAPABILITIES !
Anyone still have this demo file? I'd like to watch it.
If anybody's interested, I made some HD commanding videos (with comm voice included) on youtube:

Not the best games but we did win. Hoping to eventually get a really good game recorded.

I still wonder why the com drops an ammo/health pack at each hive while looking for the alien starting hive. Whats with that?

If there is a hive, the ammo pack doesn't drop straight on the floor but onto the hive and slow sinks through it and then you know that's the starting hive even though you can't see it.
Similar with the waypoints. If you place a waypoint on the spot a hive is supposed to be, the waypoint is placed onto the hive in case there is one. So you can detect the hive by checking wether the waypoint is displayed on the floor or in the air closer to you.
I rarely play comm, but that's how it works afaik.
The waypoint method seems to be more difficult at a few certain start hives as I've read/heard.
But like like the waypoint/ammodrop method too.
RTs are easily done by sound, but I think they dampened the hive node so you can't hear it or something, waypointing is easier in either case

Nodes are silent for the first 60s or so- including the hive node for the first 60s of a game.

Instead to find the hive using waypoints is the best option (selecting a marine/marines and then waypointing where the hives are - it makes the waypoint appear above the hive location) and then you can use ammopack/medpack dropping for seconds.
To find the early nodes it's best to just listen for eggs or gorges building. You can waypoint them though!
My opinion on comms (ones I have played with) however:
sherpa has a good medspam and a lethal early game
Mike/aZa had the best awareness
JustMe had the best timing (in terms of listening for nodes / communicating and dropping structures)
Peach with a just general great gamesense
So everyone has strengths and weaknesses.

His best asset- one I'm jealous of- is having a voice that isn't loud but makes itself heard above other sounds. You hear him, and you have to obey him.

Good luck getting them to work, I haven't touched them in years.
And thank you for the compliments Aeroripper
Check out my YouTube Channel showing off short videos of the level I am working on.
Have a peak at www.ninelegends.com the article is likely there. Failing that try www.ensl.org. The article was on a forum post but the system was wiped clean recently.
