Half Life : Source

Well, NS2 is comming... im almost crazy to play anyways... I never played NS1 and tought it would be nice to play before the second one, the problem is I got here Half Life : Source and it says that "Setup has not detected a valid Steam installation"
I read the help topic that says the steam is not correctly installed or I don't have Half Life 1 installed
The question is, is it possible to install Natural Selection and play with Half Life : Source??
