well... they'd probably no longer offer the SE level when the beta starts then, I mean whose going to pay 20$ for a new skin on the marine model? How are they going to implement that anyway? It'll have to be a server side thing won't it?

No, all it will be is the key you are given. Microsoft can tell the version of windows you are installed based on the CD-Key. Although they could just steal the first letter( or one in the middle ), if they wanted to make it easy. The key space for the Regular and Key space for the SE do not overlap and when you enter a key it will likely try it first for SE, then if that fails try it for REG, and if that fails it will tell you to reenter the key.

    Anyway My question I have:
Will those you have SE be told by email when the alpha Starts?

I think we'll all find out at the same time. Most definately just before Alpha launch (maybe 24 hours?). But it'd be pointless to start Alpha, and not notify the memberbase that it started....

just wanted to add a question

    Q1
as they are using real actors or people to motion capture the marine movements - are they planning to do the same with the aliens? e.g. get a greyhound on a treadmil
and how are they going to do heavy armor animations? :)

i think all of that motion capture stuff is really interesting

    Q2
a lot of modern games allow for players to be revived or resurrected after death - e.g. in battlefield you can use the defribulator to revive someone (that has taken a tank shell to the face... but yeah...) but it keeps the game going at a nice pace, and your not always running back to the frontline and dying over and over again.

any plans for something like this in ns2?

either for the aliens or marines, or even the commanders?

I think it would be kind of cool seeing someone move in slow mo while the rest of the game is still fast - or everything slow and only 1 person fast :)

A: It will be very easy to modify NS2. The tools used to create the game will be available when the game is released. Also, all the the game code (non-engine) is written in the scripting language LUA and modifications require no installations. This is because all the game code is kept in text files that can be easily modified, this allows you to join a server that is running for all intensive purposes a different game that only requires a small download from the client.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Since I am on a personal crusade against malapropisms, I must inform you that the phrase goes, "for all intents and purposes," not "for all intensive purposes." One does not want to seem ignorant when creating an FAQ.

    another question -

HOW DYNAMIC is the dynamic infestation?

Can we expect that the DI will spread differently each round, or is it preset for every level/map?
