    Haha! That would be hilarious.
Ye, dragging eggs is going a bit far. But the idea of running around with an egg behind(?) you sounds like fun. I can just imagine a gorge hopping around with an egg tagging along.
But to be honest, there's no use in over-complicating things. Just need something simple and effective. That approach normally tends to work.

Ceiling eggs would be ok... but an Onos falling from the ceiling after hatching ... I dunno, that's just silly.

The best option I can come up with is being able to egg inside those bulging green piles of deformed SLURM that come with Dynamic Infestation. That would give you a bit of stealth ... and maybe a wee bit of extra protection, nothing major.... say extra 30 armor while you egg.

And yeah +1 on the "select your upgrades while you egg" thing!

While I don't think you should be able to cancel gestation I do think there should be more to keeping yourself safe while doing it.
    1. Gestation chamber- Built structure that acts as a place in which you can safely transform into a different form. Naturally it could only be built on infected ground. There would be a space limit to prevent the entire team piling in. Could serve other functions Note this is not a spawn point.
    2. Infection ground based effects- All require full contact with infected ground.
A- upgrade- If you Gestate On infected ground you gain a small bonus to either armor in egg form or increased regeneration in egg form. Note- this regeneration only effects your egg form
B-Upgrade or class ability(gorge)- While gestating on infected ground the "creep"(or whatever you want to call it) will grow up around you, making it harder to spot the egg until it burst open. This does not make it invisible, just harder to notice. Alternatively this could also be accomplished by some ability belonging to the gorge in which it builds up a layer of the "creep" around the egg. Admittedly this kind of ability would likely only work IF infected ground was shifting in shape, again possibly due to the same gorge ability(if used) or naturally as part of the game.
    3. Webbing-upgrade or ability( gorge)- this upgrade causes a web like membrane to form in the immediate area around you when you gestate. While this would not help on the ground, if you were on the wall or in the air near the ceiling then the web would extend and hold you in place. This would allow you to gestate in a out of the way place; possibly above the heads of your unwary foes (Onos DROP! lol). Alternatively the gorge could use a ability (like the old webbing ability it had in NS) to hoist a gestating egg out of harms way.

Egging involving vulnerability is an important part of the game. It rewards Marines who are able to get past and punishes Alien teams who allow parasited Marines to get too close to the Hive (or for failing to parasite in the first place). It encourages teamwork, planning and risk assessment. Kee[ it in or replace it with som, ething better.

I agree. I'm usually an alien player, but as a marine, sneaking past alien defenses, mucking around in vents, dealing with skulks and such, to successfully find eggs, i think it makes for a good reward.
If I'm killed in an egg, I either curse my stupidity for gestating in such an open area, or, impressed, ask the marine how the hell he managed to get so far back to our hive.

lol! Only being able to utter "KILL ... MEEEEE"

Although i don't think having eggs be different sizes would work well. Imagine a gigantic onos egg in the middle of a hive room blocking everything. I am already imaging people spamming the Jurassic park theme song walking up to an onos egg.

It would look amazing if the gestation process included some nasty-awesome graphical morphing into the lifeform.

While getting egg killed is annoying, I personally liked the vulnerability of the eggs. They had more HP than the basic lifeforms making them resilient, and if someone found you you got to watch yourself die. So, you had to choose your gestation location carefully.

Gestating to get an ability was a tad annoying, but I could see why they put it in. Grabbing cloaking or something in the middle of a battle would be potentially problematic for the Marines. You run in and suddenly hop around the corner and have cloaking? Or you suddenly get faster? Ugh.

Being able to clip into the DI would be a nice feature, giving a bit more cover.

Yes, the idea is illogical i suppose, although it would be nice to hav a deform option so you could try fight back as a last resort. Maybe even something like a 4 sec timer on it.

Lol. I can kind of imagine the mutated dog from the film "the fly"
I don't think you should be able to cancel gestation half way. have you ever opened up a cocoon? it looks a hideous mess.

I've always though of the eggs as more of a cocoon. and someone suggested the idea of hanging ones from the ceilings.
I like this, But the problem here would be if someone decided to change their life-form into an onos or fade. I think that would be a bit unusual seeing a huge one of those hanging down. lol.
so it's probably best to forget this idea. unless, they can drop when they reach a certain size.

On the size problem with the Onos egg, Perhaps the onos could ball up as small as possible in the egg, and he could burst out and then stand up to be full height.

Agree with what Crispy said as far as NS1 goes and in NS2 if they keep the egging mechanics similar to NS1. Honestly this is one of those things which may change radically thus making the request moot.

*Visually things are bound to improve in NS2 and well see no more of the huge Onos coming out of the tiny egg.

*Queueing gestation while being an egg would be nice. Anything to make gestation less boring and more productive would be a plus too.

I like that idea. This way you wouldn't see someone go Fade and then egg three more times super fast to get upgrades, you could just que it and all the upgrades would happen at once.

We could also add a cool little minigame in gestation that if you beat it you gestate faster. Something along the lines of operation. . .
