The ###### on the female marine armor

...how I hope the new concept will be
**edit** The world that was censored in the title was "t.i.t.s" ... didn't suspect that they'd censor THAT. Oh well...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cory mentioned that they changed the concept... well I hope they made the chest area more armor-like ... I can't stand a fictional world when the males are wearing cool, functional looking armor but the females are wearing some thin piece of crap specially crafted to look like t.i.t.s (or worse, actually BARING the t.i.t.s thus inviting her enemies to stab/shoot her there).

The "make room for the t.i.t.s" part of the armor should be smoothly half-cylinder shaped, not precision-crafted to fit exactly around the breasts. Make a functional looking, mass produced armor of average proportions and leave it to the imagination how big her mammaries really are. If the boobs are too big they'll simply be flattened a bit by the armor (and no, it doesn't hurt or anything).

that's my 2 cents anyway... and probably every woman's

P.S. The pissed-off tone was directed at OTHER fictional worlds, the old female marine concept really wasn't that bad compared to other games/worlds... I'm just saying that NS2 has a chance to stand out from all the other junk out there with their nonsense female armors, a chance to be classy and make some bloody sense by comparison.

**edit** Can we please stop talking about breast size? This discussion is supposed to be about armors forged to look like breasts. We could absolutely have a big-breasted character in armor without having the armor look like a sculpture of boobs.

There's no need to bypass the swear filter, but I agree tbh. I always thought it looked a bit cheesy to have custom molded chest pieces for females. Just have her wear makeup and earrings instead.

I understand exactly what you're getting at and I agree, but was this specific sentence really necessary?

No way! We need boob physics and double-D bouncies. Games get ignored if females do not have watermelon gazongas.

You could always add "dynamic boobs" and add an option for "age" in the user profile like in a certain other game :D

English isn't my first language. And yeah the wording could have been better.

When you think about it though... I shouldn't even have made allowances for huge-breasted women wearing those armors to begin with. No woman with huge breasts would make it through military training, they are WAY too much of a physical handicap.

Wow... Is it really necessary to have this discussion? Why are you so concerned about how fictitious breasts will be addressed in NS2? Seems a bit weird to me.

I generally dislike the addition of female player models in action games due to how impractical they look. In reality, a male marine and female marine's armor would be nearly identical, yet we rarely see this in game.

It's like adding a cheap cliche to a game.

Sex sells. And huge racks are an easy way to identify the gender in the fictional world. Make them too small and they'll all look like men, which beats the point of having female Marines.

Most of all, guys love it.

What I like a lot about Natural Selection 1 is its art direction. Which is pretty realistic. I also like the lack of 'pew pew' lasers which look "amazing" but don't seem to deal meaningful damage. Specifically, Natural Selection doesn't look like this:

    http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kota...3_ps3_titan.jpg

Current female armour concept art breaks immersion for me. Unlike most of the game, it doesn't look like it's made to be functional. Don't forget being a soldier requires athletic fitness. Woman athletes have barely any breasts at all, and it's not surprising considering it's mostly fat tissue. Fat gets burned away. Female marines would look the same way, unless they're kept around as mascotts, not soldiers.
In a way, military requirements for women are higher than for men. It's completely reasonable that one soldier should be able to carry another one, wounded, away from danger. Most of soldiers are men. So a woman has to be capable to carry a wounded, often unconscious man to a safe place. That can easily be more than her own weight !

I would expect woman armour to be just leaner, smaller, have slightly different proportions. Narrower shoulders, wider hips. And shorter.

I think we can learn a lot from Battlestar Galactica here.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any decent shots of female pilots/assault team members in their gear :\

I don't understand where the OP thinks the devs plan to make the female marine with giant boobs? Everything I have seen so far chest-wise has been reasonable and practical.

    So do I.
Most girls like to appear more feminine than not, too.
It's actually quite strange that it's the guys asking for "realism" and a more androgynous look.

    Doesn't make any sense.

Speaking for myself at least, a don't play a game to become aroused.

Throwing giant bazongas on female characters attracts, in many people's opinion, including mine, the wrong type of player. There's also somewhat of a stigma attached to it, going all the way back to the days of Tomb Raider, where the game was remembered far more for it's main character's huge tracts of land rather than the gameplay. As others have pointed out, it breaks immersion when you've got a game that takes itself seriously with the exception that it's females look like Swedish porn stars. It overshadows other game aspects.

Now as some have said, why bother putting them in if they're going to look only marginally dissimilar to male models? Players like variety and choice, no matter how small. Quite aside from the visual aspect however, there's the aural element as well; female marines will sound different.

In reply to the one that asked something like this "why are you complaining, the female marine doesn't HAVE a chest-plate shaped like big boobs"

This is true... and not at all what I was talking about. Like I said, this is mainly a complaint on OTHER fictional worlds.

What I meant by the OP was simply that Cory said there is a new concept coming up, and that I hope that in the NEW concept, the chest-plate wont be forged in the shape of boobs at all. Like I said, NS2 has a chance to be classy compared to other games out there and basically say "we're above that sort of crap" by having the armor look like real, sensibly engineered armor. With a bit of ROOM for the breasts, yes... but not with the chest-plate forged to LOOK like breasts.

So basically the old concept pic would be great, if there weren't that deep, wide "cleavage" in the shape of the armor there.

I don't know why you People think that a fit Woman has to have a Chest flat like a Board (Aliens two: That Tomboy of a Girl-Marine had a nice Rack imo).
And to be honest, this is the Future. You could imagine that the Armor has some sort of Support build in, or how do you think Marines are able to hold something like the HMG steady enough to fire the full Load of Ammo without breaking their Arms (in response to "Women are weak compared to Men").
Let's not forget, the Armor is Nanoenriched as well. I'd say it fits like a second Skin and can adapt itself to its wearer (response to custom sculpted Chestpiece).

BTW: T i t IS rude after all. Better use Boob(s), Breast(s) or something like that.
