Uses of Infestation

Let me make a scenario here; Humans have barricaded a central main room and built a few turrets there. Let's say that the aliens get in there and kill the humans and the main buildings, but the turrets are still alive. The infestation rolls into the room and shuts down the power with the turrets still alive. I think that the turrets should either be deactivated and/or be infested as well. I think that would give a new turn of troubles for the humans, as well as adding in some extra tactics. Say your the last human alive, would you keep fighting the aliens to your death, or first destroy the turrets, taking away the chance of the aliens having extra, free defenses there?

What about other uses for the infestation?
