What Should I Research First?

armour or motion tracking or sumthing?
during the game, i usually don't know what to research first. Motion tracking is very useful, as the marines can see where all aliens are , stadning or moveing. it helps to defeat hiding aliens, and warn em that aliens arre coming in. But on the other hand there's armour. after getting it, it increases the amount of skulk bites needed (2 bites to 3 bites to kill marines) to kill a marine. It helps a lot because you lvie longer, and ya have a biigger chance of killing the enemy since they gotta bite you 3 times. So i dunno what to get. Should i get motion tracking or armour. both cost the same amount or rp's. 25 for observatory, 45 for motion trcking. 45+25 = 70. armslab cost 50 and armour cost 20. 50+20 = 70. same price... so which one should i get?? armour or MT

My arguement for motion tracking first (but not long before the others follow) is that it give us the most lead time to see an attack coming. If I can see a skulk before he comes around the corner, I can get that many bullets into him before he can get to me.

If you do armor, then the skulk is already running around me and I can't him a thing.

If you do bullets, it helps on offense (I'd do this second, actually) which is a big push in the beginning of the game, but you still don't have the reaction time you would with motion tracking.

My $.02

Motion tracking is worth 500 armor points on its own, at least.

Depends if you are one of those turret-nuts. If you will send rp on nothing but turrets for the who game, upgrade your weapons.

I'd go with motion tracking first, and then armor, and then weapons. That's just a personal preference. Motion tracking is very nice particularly in the early game when a short burst can take out those skulks.

Motion tracking is a little less useful when you end up dealing with larger, slower, noisier, not-clambering-on-that-dark-spot-above-your-head aliens. But motion sensing is very good against skulks

Motion tracking apparently works on every server but ours...

However, assuming it works on yours, go with motion tracking.

This is an easy one:

1. Motion Tracking - helps both commander and troops see aliens and HIVES everywhere on the map
2. Armour - troops survive 3 skulk bites, therefore much better

I usually go

motion
armour
weapon
weapon
heavy armour
new weapons (hmg, gren)
armour
armour
weapon

last 3 dont really matter, when everyone has HMG and HA, if you have at least one hive you can pretty much storm through the map as a marine

I'd go for motion tracking ... well, on the off chance it will work. It usually doesn't - haven't seen it work in 1.03 even once... I think it worked in 1.02 a couple of times, but usually it didn't.

there used to be a bug that thinks motion has'nt been researched even though you did research it. But i think they fixed that bug as the motion tracking always work now.
