Since I Play Marines Very Infrequently...

I have some small questions
Do they know where your hive is at the very start? The commander can see it, right?
Can they see webs? I was playing marine today, and I ran into a web that I didn't see. I pulled out my welder later and attemppted to clear a path for my team... I don't know if I was cutting through them or what, though.
How does sensor sweep work? Say... you're cloaked and a sensor sweep detects you. Are you completely visible to the naked eye now? How long does this last, and what's the best method to counter it?

A commander can't see the hive form the start, but I do believe he can hear it. If he mouses over it, I think he hears the squelching sounds it makes.
It's harder to see webs as a marine, but only because you're not usually looking for them. If they're just strung across a doorway, they're usually easy to spot, but on the floor, or on the ceiling, they can be nearly invisible.
I never quite understood Sensor Sweep.

Berger was pretty much spot on with the first two responses. The commander can hear the hive if his overhead view is over the active hive. And seeing webs laid directly on the floor is much more difficult than seeing them strung across a doorway at eye-level.
The sensor sweep will give the commander an overhead view of all activity within the scanned area. He'll see alien buildings and players in that area, and I'm pretty sure it'll also make cloaked units temporarily visible to both him and to other marines.
2. Scanner sweeps ripples a couple blue wave thingys, any thing in that area is visible to the commander.
1) run the heck away!!
2) stand REALLY close to the corner, the marine will expect you to run away and won't expect u to bite/swipe at him so early
3) run away and cloak just outside range.
yes, the commander can see it, but it takes a bit to look
Can they see webs? depending on where you place them it can be yes or no. If you can see the webs, they probabaly can.., but there are places where they appear invisble
How does sensor sweep work?
dont know that one
The commander's "heart beat" detection method mentioned earlier in this thread is much better, though.
However aliens are visible for commander only if some marine is looking on them, scanner sweep doesn't show aliens to commander.
