Biggest Turn Around On Amatch In Ns History

Can you top this "ultimate turn around"?
I was playing on Voogru's server(which has some modifications.....but still holds true to NS gameplay). I dont know the map name, but it was the one with sewer hive, ventilation hive, and generator hive. The entire time the marines had been kicking alien backside, and secure generator early on. The aliens had managed to get ventilation(they started in sewer) but lost it shortly after. The aliens, using just skulks however manged to destroy countless marine attempts to put siege cannons outside sewer hive, so the hive was secure....though not much. This went on for over an hour.

The marines had full upgrades in basically everything, and every rescource point on the map....

Since the aliens had nothing to build, they had TONS of rescources, but nothing to spend it on.

I, as a skulk snuck into the back of ventilaiton hive, past the turret farms on both doors, and when no one was around, dropped 8 defense towers under the hive

I think you know where this is going .

As soon as they were all up, I dropped a hive down.

This would be a good time to advice marine commanders; ALWAYS drop a siege in hives you've taken-even if there are turrets ALL over the hive.

The marines found the hive about halfway through construction, but because of the 8 defense towers couldnt kill it!!! They hammered the HELL out of it, and literaly less then 5 seconds after it came up, it was destroyed.

That 5 seconds howerver was enough time for the entire alien team(11 people, 1 stayed gorge) to turn into fades .

The fades rolled over every marine nozzle like a ton of bricks, and took back ventilation hive, then generator!

We then rolled into the marine base as onos, and wiped it clean .

There was MUCH discussion the next round over how the hell we all turned into fades with "only 1 hive" heheheh

And yes I have plenty of witneses to say this happened!(Most of voogru server regular players post or read this board)!

Haha! That sounds great! Gotta love those sneaky little Kharaa. Think the map you're referring to is ns_caged.

Damn I musta missed that game,
I have once commanded a team of "elite soldiers" back from the loss of 3 hives... And once before that had a commander do the same thing.. It literally took hours, but almost all the kudos goes to my team. They stuck togeather, welded each other, didn't whine for stuff they knew I had no resources to give them. I kept upgrading and equiping until we had a full set of heavies... Then one by one, we pushed outwards... It was the greatest game I ever commanded, thanks to my team who actually listened to commands and kept that suit of HA welded for 15 to 30 mins each... This bought me enough time to get them fully equipped and upgraded... It was unbelievable sight... And it is extremely rare to see any team win that loses most tactical points/hives or all of them.

Map you were talking about was Caged.

I played a game on the same map as aliens one time, and upon joining, I realized something odd; WE HAD NO HIVE. Oh, just one in construction...

"Well, we're not going to live long", I thought, "but I'll give it my best."

We still won. The marines had HA, HMGs, crap load of RP nodes, and we still won.

    sad...

Oh yea ive seen this....they had skulks, lerks, gorgs and we had fully upgraded techs,HA,HMG the works......

We lost that game because 99% of the marine team were n00bs who didnt even understand that "go to waypoint soldier" LITERALLY MEANS "go to that waypoint!NOW!".

Didnt help that they didnt know how to weld each other, and they actually went to a hive location, sat there, and kept asking me what i wanted them to do....as if they didnt even know how to take the inititaive and SHOOT THE HIVE.

My biggest turn around was as a Kharaa.

We lost all 3 hives (The map was ns_hera and on a server with the 1.02 patch) due to some horrible gorge O and D chamber placement. We finally managed to get 1 hive up long enough to respawn everyone who was dead and get Lerks and some D chambers. We were starting to lose our 1 and only hive so I desided to try to take out the CC. Thankfully my former clanmates were there so they helped me with the attack. We all went lerk and flew out of the vent (the one under the CC) and around the corner into the little hall leading to the CC. We told our teammates just to run from the marines and don't kill any of them. So us 3 started to chomp on the marine CC. Unfortanly, a marine was killed by a O chamber and respawned while I was busy taking out the two infantry portals (I desided to fly away to get the TF and IPs first while my friends were taking out the CC).

Well, to make a long story short, we took out the entire marine base while our other teammates defended the hive. Unfortanly they had just built a CC and 1 IP in one of their captured hives. We all rushed the marine base as carapace skulks and got the IP and CC. (All marines were dead and the commander could not build another one.) So, we won with 1 hive.

So people, stop yelling at me to get another hive up. You can kick marine butt with just 1 hive.

My best was as a marine, actually

Bascially, we were screwed. All the hives were up and about 3 to 4 onos were charging the base. We practically dug ourselves in just stayed put for about 15 minutes. In the meantime, me and a friend of mine managed to get by the onslought with some hmgs and jetpacks.

Helpful hint to Kharaa players: when u the marine base, make sure your hives have some moderate defenese.

We managed to take a hive, and our comm immediately had us build a new comm chair within the hive. We had an entire new basse up in baout 20 minutes, complete with a load of upgrades. As our men at the first base died off, they showed up in the new base. The onlsought at the first base continued. None of the onos died, or we may have had problems. They ended up killin the orig comm chair and thinking that they had won the game
So of course, we let them think that
Lets just say that 4 hmg ha marines can take out an onos quickly, and we eventually got rid of all of their onos's.

Once that was done, they decided to try and refortify one of their hives. However, while they were doing that, we took the other one

When it came down to it, we eventually wore down the defenses on their last hive and pounded the crap outta them untill it was party time at the marine camp

^Yes, I remember that match, I came in as marine late game when the marines where busting out the KY gel
    \
anyhow, Rage agasing the pepsi machine was **obscenity** at the shear stupidity of the marines

all the marines had to do was listne to the comm (rage), and defend the 2nd hive, but they were too god damed stupid....

here's a tip to the 'rines: listen to your fkn comm you **obscenity**!

Already posted this one.. my first venture as a Valiant (aka: psycho Gorge).

Short version, ns_nancy. Marines had capped the 'Nothing' Hive. Put up some beginning-game defenses, and promptly forgot about it. We got Subspace Array and Port Engine Room. They were sending HA/HMGs to Port to try and break us.. we fought like crazy, but they were slowly breaking our lines. I was dead at the time, so I got to see as the Subspace Hive lit up in a wash of blue... then another, and another. Three Sieges. Spawned in at Port Engine and made a run for it out the back ventway, over toward Nothing. Peeked out, and somebody on our team had already taken out the TF. Ducked back and evolved to Gorge, by now we were at zero-hive. A scoreboard check showed that one guy was left.. for about two seconds, until his name went red. I was the only one left, and two or three had already gone back to the Ready Room to wait, or observe. A good portion of my team stuck around though, and after a lot of nail-biting the Hive ended up completing growth and started spawning people in.. you've never heard that kind of hollering over voicecomm before. Got most of the team to QUICKLY get into hive-defense position, and kept them from attacking any of the dead Sentry Turrets lest the Commander notice. Took half the team, and after a skulk-o-vator ride up to the vent, we were on our way back to the Port Engine hive.

Amazingly enough, the Marines hadn't set any defenses down. After all, it was just one last Alien, and they always run and hide in the vents. Got a second Hive up (thanking those wussies who went Spectator) and started laying down defenses. When the Marines got back to find a defensive wall in place, they started cutting it down. They DIDN'T expect Adrenaline and Carapaced Fades to pop out and take them down in a rush. Team went off to assault their base before the two that were taken down had a chance to respawn. I was working on clearing off the last Hive and getting it built after the Sieges' destruction when the 'Team 2 wins!' message popped up, and the round was over.

I've done it one more time since then, turning zero-hive into an Alien win, and have gotten backup hives growing (and completed sometimes) from a zero-hive state numerous times. It's the Marines' overconfidence that does it, they don't bother locking down the later Hives that they take, because they figure it'll all be over very quickly.

Only rarer occurrence I've heard of only happened once... a Marine racing through a dead map to build a spare CC on the other side, bringing in spawn portals, and being able to sneak in and take down all three hives.

Seems that when the chips are down, and people are granted a reprieve against death to give it another shot, they CRANK up the intensity. Makes for incredible end-games when the enemy slips up and lets the _wrong_ guy sneak away.

It was ns_bast, and the teams kept going from uneven to uneven. I came in late as a skulk, waiting for all the other players to get in the game, instead of camping the marine respawner. Eventually, after defending a few points, and killing some nozzles from the marines, I decided to rush their base.. and guess what? Easy opening on the comm chair. One person, I think named Killerz, was always there to try to stop me, but I always seemed to kill him until he finally respawned the third time to finish me off. I immediately told my team to rush their commander console since it was so open. After countless runs at it, Totmu destroyed it.

We would've finished off the marines' base, but all the other skulks were doing something else(seemed like only Totmu and I were running at the commander console) so we decided to just kick-back and get all the hives up. Our main hive was Refinery, and during this whole time, we didn't have a second hive, no gorge was saving, and there was no defense chambers up yet, as a matter fact, there was none of the three! So I go gorge and start plopping down nozzles and walls of lame, and as I'm reinforcing our main hive, we get marine rushed by a LOT of good players(ChopperDave mainly) and we end up losing it! Luckily, this is a v1.02 server still, so we can still win since more than half of our team is alive. So I go skulk(I just ran out of resources), and take out the entire group of marines, which was maybe four or five. I then hear Feedwater is under attack, during the time the main hive was under attack, a gorge put up feedwater. I rush over and see it coming up and I start hearing marines. I go out and attack, but since I had low health and nowhere to regenerate(no defense chambers) and no gorges were able to build any offense chambers, half of our team was dead. And we had two gorges in Feedwater, trying to fend off the marines.

One of the gorges ran off midst the gunfire towards Refinery, while the other gorge ended up dying and losing feedwater. Finally, the gorge gets up Refinery and then Totmu and myself move towards Feedwater to find a few marines left. We dispatch them, taking some hits and I decide to go gorge. I quickly built some chambers and another gorge got the hive up. Now I start moving towards the marine base when I hear "The hive is under attack!" I check my hive list.. and again! They're going for Refinery! I devolve into a skulk and get their as fast as I could. I find them back where they were in the first place, on that catwalk above the hive, so I go around and end up dropping on them, only killing one. Luckily, most of my team has learned how to play the game and rushes back and saves the hive. When I respawn, I notice both hives are coming up in Engine and Feedwater and gladly take a drink of my Propel and go to the bathroom. I come back and we're winning.

I also wanted to make a mention that this is why the timer shouldn't really be in. If that timer was in, we would've lost. We also should've won way back in the beginning, but the team was full of some new players, who then learned a LOT. (Some didn't even know how to build defense chambers!!) Both teams bragged during their winning streak, and almost cried on their losing. (I was one of the few that was like, "Yeah! Time to die marines!" and ChopperDave replied later in the game, "Time to DIE, ALIENS!!!" Then proceeded to laugh. And I was also the few that went, "OMFG!!" when we lost all of our hives.) In the end, that was a fun game seeing as how aliens almost won, and then marines almost won. Big help from the aliens were Totmu and ^NiK0[DK] (i cant remember fully, something like that) And marines were ChopperDave and Fire=LMNTL=.

I commanded the game Ves is referring to, and things did start off very well, though by the time we got all our upgrades and two hives, everyone basically considered themselves invincible, went off rambo, and wouldn't follow even the simplest verbal orders(Two guys were sitting in spawn, lerk is spiking the buildings while they watch, I have to give them an "attack enemy" order just to get them to get it away). Anyways, I'm slightly at fault too, for not putting siege guns at every expansion . Anyways, they basically took vent hive with half the team sitting in vent base listening to the aliens build (like two guys even bothered to push E on the to build them).

We then lost gen hive because not a single person would build the siege guns there or even use the phase gate, and so 5-6 came along, plopped down O and D chambers, and turreted our turrets to death. Though overconfidence was a major downfall, hardly anyone even knew the map or were basically newbs, I told people to get to gen hive, which was linked by a phase gate. You know what I got? "Waypoint plz". .Anyways, just goes to show that a commander is only good as his marines, and vice versa. Congrats to the aliens for a nice comeback, even if some of your details (Ves)were exaggerated. (Two attempts to build at pumpstation 2, by half-witted rambos who built the turret fac and then climbed the ladder into sewer hive).

I've come back as alien from 0 hives, with me being the only one alive on the team to win against marines.

I've come back as marine when aliens had 3 hives and were busy destroying our base by putting a siege+turrets in a vent.

Anything is possible (Well, harder now with the auto-kill)

The only thing comebacks from 3 hives show is a) the marine team is incompetent, and b) the alien team is even more incompetent for letting the marines get them to 0 hives in the first place.

There is absolutely no reason the Comm shouldn't know the status of all 3 hive locations at all times. At the point they realize all the hives are down, the first thing to do is post a marine at each hive location. If a Gorge tries to build anything the marine will see it and everybody will come running. Comebacks like that are completely inexcusable.

heh, i love when the marines comment my hit'n'running at them..

I attacked a single marine, he hit VERY good and fast, i had 1 hp.. hiding in the ventilation 3-c hive (with no hive), then he says: "Come down little dog, i will feed you " so i goes like: "Uhm.. err.. 1 hp" like 0.2 seconds after this i hear the marine shooting like hell and i get really scared, then i hear he climbs up the ladder, leaps over his head and runs like hell throu the vent system.. since i tought this was funny i went up to the ladder before the res point at the same hive and got myself regen(this was in 1.02 so i got new health and armor) and jumped down for the marine to try to kill him, he had gotten med packs so i didnt kill him at the first bite, then he turns around and shoots me almost to death.. 1 hp again! /ME RUUUUUUNS throu the vent systems again, slowly recovering health, the marine goes like: "Arent you dead yet?" me: "1 hp!! PHEW!" him: "*sigh* this is fun " and while writing he comes and shoots me in my little corner..

i know this is a lot funnier when it happenes, impossible to remake it in words :/ well, i loved it when it happened..
