<div class="IPBDescription">the horror continues</div> Just after the servers updated I decided to play NS. I clicked on my favourite server, went in there and everything was fine. But all of a sudden I got this message: Server enforces file consistency for models/shell.mdl. "Hmmmm they might have a clue on the forums about that..." I thought and I was right. So I downloaded the new patch and extracted the model, went into the server again and this time a debris for glass3.wav was missing. I checked the new patch but couldn´t find the wav. Heck I even installed the whole patch but nevertheless NS ain´t working for me anymore. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Anyway if you have modified your HL then it will find it and lock you out. Part of the update will not let you play on servers with custom models or sounds. If you haven't done that then I'd say your HL is messed up and needs to be reinstalled.

shell.mdl is a HL model in pak0.pak and theres an improved one in the pak1.pak, otherwise nown as the HD pak.
if you extract the shell.mdl from pak0.pak and place in your ns\models directory you'll be fie, its the 7kb one, not the HD pack 9kb one.
or you can download the 1.03 server patch which has it in there too.

I didn´t edit any sounds or something and the only custom models I have are those in my regular valve/models folder. The thing is, that it worked BEFORE the 1.03 patch, but now I just can´t join any server running 1.03.

then I joined a 1.02 server: no problems also
1.03: Server is enforcing file consistency for debris/glass3.wav

Rename the HD pack to something like pak1backup.pak.
(oh, and look at the huge line of quotes!)

Well this is from the main page news abuot the patch:
<<"- Added support for model and sound consistency checking. If you run your server with mp_consistency 1, it will require that all NS models and sounds are unchanged from the distribution. This allows servers to disable custom models or sounds, and exploits that can result from them. This is currently disabled by default. If you have problems connecting to a server with an error like "server is enforcing file consistency on file X", then delete your custom models or try connecting to a different server.">>
Some servers may not be running the change enabled. It appears that can be turned off. But if you want to play without problems then you may have to reinstall. Good Luck.
