A Guide to Bunny Hopping

<div class="IPBDescription">an idealy idiot proof guide to bhoping</div>I guess I'll start off with an introduction, my name/handle is PhynxPhire, I've been playing NS for nearly 5 years, about 3&1/2 of those years where competitively played between Cal, NSDojo, Ansl and so on. So I hope that my credentials will be up to snuff for teaching.
I'm creating this topic because of how essential bhoping (bunny hopping) is to a players skill base.
-=The plan: Record actual motions of both of my hands and screen while bunny hopping.=-
-=The result: There's no more excuses for not understanding the concept of the bhop.=-
-To start it off a text based explanation on the basic bhop (there are many different styles)-
Step1: Push the 'W' key to get an initial run up. Since this is for aliens, hold your crouch key the entire time for all steps to prevent sticking to anything.
Step2: RELEASING the 'w' key press the strafe key (D or A) and move your mouse in the direction of the strafe(ie: if 'A' move mouse left or if 'D' move mouse right by say 30 degrees) + JUMP (Note: It is important that you start your "swing" slowly to get a "feal" for the dynamics.)
Step3:You will now initiate a forward curved jump , in the left or right direction(Please note never to use the 'w' key for acceleration here after).
Step4:When your about to land after the first jump, hit the opposite strafe key and curve your mouse in the same direction of your strafe and hit jump EXACTLY when you land after the first jump. Doing this a little too early or little too late will cut the bunny hop.
Step5
IF You got the timing and mouse movement right you will quickly move forward faster, and you will need to repeat Steps 2 to 4 repeatedly.
Confused? Don't worry it's difficult to understand the concept through text, which is why I will be accompanying a video. (which will be commentated)
Finally. I want feedback from the community on whether or not you like this idea, or if you even have the desire to learn how to bhop.
Thanks, PhynxPhire

I would suggest waiting until NS2 comes out and seeing if it has BHOP, and then making the video if it does.. because it's a shame to put effort into something that very few people will benefit from. It isn't like there were many players in NS learning how to bhop when it was at its prime, but now is so many orders of magnitude worse.. so I'm sure you could do a good job, but I'm also thinking that there are better things you could do with your time.
If you do end up making the video, I think a nice layout would be having the game demo displayed accompanied by a layout of the keys being pressed and the motion of the mouse. The motion of the mouse can be captured well with a camera from above, while the keyboard could be captured well by a camera from a slight angle in front of your keyboard; alternatively maybe there is software that can record your keystrokes and their duration.. I think I saw another tutorial like that somewhere.
and then
practice
practice
practice
you eventually get a feel for how much speed you gain when you jump, and it's all about getting that feel
personally starting off backwards bhop was easier...
Step b) Scrim (99% bhop)

Ignorant much?
here here
if you make that video, start of on ns_bhop to show how to do it in ideal conditions. then move to a real map and show how you have to practice on each map and plan your jumps so you dont hit the edges of steps or doorways or things like that
