Dynamic sound!

<div class="IPBDescription">Just like Left 4 Dead</div>I don't know about you guys, but I think those dynamic sounds are awesome. Like when it's all quiet, then you hear the upbeat tempo and strings or whatever when your getting swarmed by a horde of zombies.

I think it would be awesome if you were a Marine and your base was getting raped and as it was the awesome fight music of a giant battle that was taking place kicked in.

If any of you have played Left 4 Dead, then you know exactly what I'm talking about, so I hope you agree with me that something like this should be added for those small fights, and big battles.

IMO, sound is to critical to be cluttered by music. Except like... in the ready room and the very beginning and end of the match.

That's true, you don't want annoying sounds to play when there isn't anything going on, just a simple background noise. But if this is used wisely, then it can be done great.

Edit: Of course the sound would be different for every player. And the sounds should only play when there is something big going on, like a climax scene.

In Left 4 Dead, certain sounds would play when there is a Boss Infected around, that would not be needed in NS2. But like when the survivors are being attacked by a horde of zombies, music starts to kick in to give you the cue that something hectic is going on.

Now, of course there wouldn't be really big fighting music when your being attacked by one skulk, but instead something small and quiet to show that this isn't a big fight.

I also think that a special sound should play when each teams lose, like if the Marines lose their CC, then some kind of depressing music should kick in for the Marine team that they've pretty much lost, while on the Alien team, a victory type sound would start to play, and vice versa.

its a great idea but i turn music off in any online game where hearing the enemy plays an important role - NS being the perfect example.

I think ambience is better achieved by sounds made by the level - ie steam vents hissing, computer beeping, alarms , engines etc all this is much better than music, and once again ns did this very well <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Yes let's have the same track play every time you fight an onos. Nobody gets tired of our music.
