Is there a way to play without going through Steam?

My parent thinks the Steam client thing caused the computer to crash and now has a severe phobia of it. Is there a way to load these files with the Half-Life game or something so i can play from my desktop and not use Steam?

Steam is the only supported way to play Natural-Selection. I generally have not seen steam crash computers in quite a while. You may want to go through the steps of scanning your computer for viruses, malware, etc to see if there is something else going on in the background that is causing your computer to be unstable.

    Here is a Steam Trouble ticket I just placed with Steampowered.com <a href="https://support.steampowered.com/view.php?ticketref=6802-YUPB-0183" target="_blank">https://support.steampowered.com/view.php?t...=6802-YUPB-0183</a>

It is a problem that everyone playing NS on Steam seems to be having. Or it seems every where I played the last three days. The problem is not happening with other games on Steam Server like Counter Strike or other games, but just Natural Selection as I can tell.
