With an new technology is available...
More recently has once again seen here this news:

http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/news/2007...marine_concepts

And I was come to mind by small idea on updating towards realness HUD of marines.
Namely - drawings with various variations of a helmet of the marine. And what if to realise it, how improvements for the commander?

Let's tell, as No-Armor the picture where at the marine the helmet protects only a nape that gives the chance to kill the marine can act, having bitten it in a brain part of a head and by that having ignored the armor(as in NS 3.0). At the same time this improvement will allow to see the opponent as much as possible well. In HUD cartridges in a holder and in a stock are visible only. Health it is not visible. I.e. the state of health is reflected only in accuracy(more dmg - bad accuracy) and speed of walking(if very damaged - you speed is 100, if no damaged - 250). Image 8.4.

Upgrade Armor-1 - a helmet closing all head. Besides 50 armor - having bitten the marine in a head - the reservation, and then health will act in film at first - as is made nowadays in NS 3.2. Armor is visible in the form of a strip of armor points. Image 7.

Upgrade Armor 2 - will give a covered helmet with plastic glasses and a gas mask. The armor 70. Plastic glasses worsen visibility of the opponent as in HUD it is added on all screen it is glass - i.e. as though a gas mask. However it gives advantage - Offense Chambers put half of loss to the marine, and also in HUD there is a Minicard, the current commander and command resources. The gas mask gives resistibility against Lerk Spore - they put 3 units of a loss instead of 7. But here to you and the bad party - with the put on gas mask loud BREATH of the marine is constantly audible, that essentially complicates audibility, therefore it makes sense to make the button which will remove a gas mask, and she will dress her back in the necessary situation. Health is visible in the form of a strip of hit points(line format). Armor - in armor points(numberic format). Image 8.1.

Upgrade Armor 3 - glasses are a part of a helmet, as is shown in the very first picture. Except a card in HUD there is a health in the form of units as it is now made in NS 3.2 - figure. Armor - too in armor points(numberic format). Besides - only this improvement is capable to function together with Motion Tracking, and also it it is visible in Heavy Armor. The reservation increases to 90, however there is also a bad party - all image puts on in cold tone (dark blue colour of the screen of cybernetic glasses), but such glasses give night vision to the marine without special need of inclusion of a small lamp. And also the gas mask is accessible. Combine image 8.1 and image 1.

Also as a variant to make a gas mask separate improvement but as already I have told above - to allow to remove it, to listen and to hear breath of the character.

Sorry for my bad english. Translatted with Promt XT Translator 8 from Russian.

As interesting as it is to make a hud that changes as the armor is upgrade I think it's a little extreme. Not being able to see the health or any other stats that are normally found on the hud would scare away new players. Even if it is just in the begining of the match.

It's already hard enough to survive if a skulk gets on you. Adding an instant kill area might make it too hard for the marines at the start of the match. And it will lead to many complaints on unfair kills.

Unknown Worlds is trying to make a game that is fun to play. If it becomes a chore just to decide if you are about to die then it's no longer fun.

i agree whit ratclaw, but i have to admit that this suggestion is very well tought and i like the idea of making the hud something more "inhelmet holograw" like, just a visual, instead of a hp/armor count box nailed at the buttom left of the screen, it could be a box nailed at the buttom left of the helmet visor.

well. i hope you get the idea. for me, this style presented here is distracting and uneffective. ns2 will do better.

Game Far Cry 2 can be a living example. Health is visible in the form of a strip and that - only when the protagonist receives damages.

I cannot understand a physical explanation of figures on the screen if there is no helmet guard where them have written? Laser updating of sight on sensitivity to physical injuries?

    Small offtopic:

By the way, as a variant of realisation of men and women:

    The man - 100 hp, speed 250
    The woman - 90 hp, speed 275-300
