if nothing happens australia will be joining the only other country to have filtered internet - china (and we all know it gets abused over there)

I took their template, added a bit to the end and printed it out. I'll post it later today.

Soooo, how are they preventing the more tech savy folk from using a VPN tunnel to connect to a proxy in "insert land of choice"?

They're not. A far simpler option would be a SSH tunnel for port 80 traffic. Simple but effective solution. Good luck breaking RSA, Australian knobgobblers.

Or is it just very coincidental that an ex-convict colony is about to rise up against its keepers?

Slightly irrelevant but didn't the French filter all Nazi material from their internetz?

It's retarded and we're governed by christian moralist / corrupt incompetents. It's worse than America because at least in America you have a significant portion of the populace who actually support this idiocy, whereas in Australia less than 5% of people actually condone the practices of the government, but we're absolutely powerless to stop it because our system of laws and policies are set up like a bureaucrat's wet dream.

It's why I don't read the news and why I laugh at people who spout "obey the <i>law</i>" as if it's some ethereal code of ethics that, if followed, will ensure prosperity and safety for all of its citizens. It's not. It's the product of centuries, and millennia, of self-serving politicians furthering their own agenda with meaningless "Do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy. Truly their legacy is the longest lasting, even more so than the pyramids of giza because honestly how many people's lives have they affected? Not many, over the millennia. Laws, on the other hand...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Wow, I couldnt agree more about everything you have just said <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> Its good knowing that myself and my partner aren't the only ones that think this way.
