<div class="IPBDescription">can't transmit when dead / spectator</div>I had a quick look thru the forums (first 20 pages or so) and used the search function and couldn't find a solution to this problem; apologies if I overlooked it.
Anyways, I can transmit fine when I am alive but can't when I am dead or spectator. I have seen other people managing this so I'm thinking is a bug rather than a restriction in the programming (1st thought it was to stop ghosting). Any ideas? I have uptodate drivers etc - it's a problem I had on my old comp too which makes me think it's not a driver / hardware problem.
Thanks in advance.

If your having it then this just makes me wonder if it is the server your on or a long forgotten patch <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Just to clarify, this does not happen on any other game apart from NS. I play mods based on both the HL1 and HL2 engines and they are fine.
However, it is nice to know I'm not the only one out there who has this problem (not that i'd wish problems onto random people)
Yeah, double checked it last time I was playing and although I could be heard when alive, no-one could hear me when I was dead <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />
then go in game and press the voice button and talk you should hear your own voice and dissable it press: voice_loopback 0.
then try to change to quality of sound transmision.. HOPE it helped you ^^ <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" />
Are we still talking about NS? The last time I checked, live players <b>can </b>hear dead players. Maybe it is a server side modification?
Edit: Just noticed rasen signed up on the forum to try to help - thanks!
Oooops, it appears I have spent far too long away from playing NS. Sorry!

What key do you have it bound to now? I just wonder if there is a dead-spec only function (that I can't think of) that is conflicting with it.
It used to be bound to space bar and i had the same problem then.

Since I got my new mouse I bound it to mouse button 4 - which isn't bound to anything as default (as far as I know)
Tincan gets full marks !!!
I use Mouse 3 (middle mouse) for MIKE.
BUT WHEN IM DEAD/SPECTATING mouse 3 dont work
i have 2 keys binded to mike because as you guys know i do love to use my mike.
I found TAB key lets me speak while DEAD/SPECTATING.
and when im running into battle scene, and say die while using the MIKE (Mouse 3) the MIKE stays locked on.
But i just hit the OTHER key for MIKE (TAB key) and i can speak and unlock sticky mikes.
So answer is - Yes you can speak while dead/spectating, find a key that works for you.
i use mouse 3 while alive and TAB key when dead/spectating.
Peace Out... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" />
So when you're commander, dead or spectating you'll need to use a keyboard key instead.
FYI when you are in a VGUI menu, the game only recognises mouse1 and mouse2.
