Because they hate us.

    Step 1: Find the video.

    Step 2: Delete the video.

That wasn't so hard, was it?

Honestly, no, but I shouldn't have to go through all that bull###### just to play a game quicker that I purchased.

Correction. You purchased a LICENSE. A license to play a game whose content they dictate, not you. And if you like not having to sit through intros, why don't you go live there?!

Well it's not like they forced you to purchase it. If you don't like EA games, then don't purchase EA games. My workaround is even faster than turning off the intro movie through an ingame menu or something, since you can do it without having to start up the game (and sit through the intro movie lulz).

Assuming it doesn't cause a fatal exception, like Faskalia suggested.

It's never done it to me.

Dun care about your workaround, shouldn't need one is the bottom line. And you know, with the purchase bit, I pretty much assumed that the person making it would try to cater to the customer, since they, you know, purchased it and spend their time using it. But I guess that goes to show that EA still isn't remotely customer oriented.

There is a lot of confusion about this. In some courts it has held that you are in fact PURCHASING the software, while others have held the EULA bit.

Rather than just rehash what I've read, here it is:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-sale_do...mputer_software

Point is, your correction is not an undeniable truth. It is rather fuzzy in case law.

While you can remove the intro, the fact that they put it there (knowing full well that most of their customers won't remove it) speaks volumes about them as a company.

Movie companies do it all the time, I don't see anyone complain about that. I guess that's because you only watch a movie once, though, whereas you might open up a game a lot of times.

Well EA is pretty much leading the "In-game advertisement" thing. Required ad viewing before the game, billboards in games...

Last thing we need is hl3 being made by EA, what a disaster that would be. You'd get a new half life every year thats half done and buggy :/

I agree. This reminds me of our conversation about corporate financial egg-heads ruining an innovative company.

    May innovation triumph over greed.

I thought it was necessity. Either that or divine inspiration. =]

But yeah. It should be a cardinal rule that you give players the ability to skip cinematics/intro sequences.

The world is driven by greed. The idea is not to make it painfully obvious though.
