I recently came back to playing NS regularly now. Mostly on Bad and G4B2S, both great servers, but they're often full at primetime. I'm not the best player but enjoy this game a lot. I never go fade, rarely lerk, mostly gorge or skulk. Never comm.

I decided to try adding another server in the mix, it's just named TTs Public Server on Steam. It'll be NS only. Ive only installed Crab's Map Manager so far and I'll just leave it at that for now. Unfortunately it's not a completely dedicated server right now. I'd like to see how the community would possibly support another NS server. I see a lot in the servers list that are always empty, I could be wasting my money but, we'll see. I'd be up to adding more maps later on but, I'll just leave it the way it is and see how it goes. Only 24 slots, may change if it will ever get full, maybe get a dedicated one.

It's been ahwile since I've setup a HL server. Reminds me of my digitalpaintball days. Any requested changes people would like to make I'd likely do if it's reasonable. My main goal is to have a 3rd awesome server to play on.

I'll leave it alone tonight and go play on Bad or G4B2S.

    Hey as long it dosen't have bots another NS classic server is always welcome and I would love to play on it with other players who aren't in a clan and dominate a whole team <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> .

    Is your server going to be up 24/7 or just at certain times?

    It'll be up all the time.

    I just remember the plethora of servers I could choose from way back in 2003, not no more. I have to 'camp' the two good servers during primetime waiting for 29 slots to show before I click connect. Shouldn't have to wait to get into a decent NS game.

    Had a massive 2 players on at once yesterday around 2am, sweet!

    There's some way to mess with whichbots so that you can add them through chat, but only if the player count if below a certain value. That could help jumpstart the server.

    I personally like comm chat color, and I use the awards plugin for my friendly LAN party but I don't know how the mass internets people think of it.

    Well, if it's within good ping of me I'll come and play. I'm LA though. where you situated?

    The server is in Dallas, I'm in Abilene myself just a hop away. It's not a dedicated server, so it's probably on one with a handfull of other servers. configuring these things without RDP or the actual console kinda sucks. Just have ftp pretty much, which is enough.

    I've been looking up addons myself and did come across the Comm color one and a few others that people like. I was thinking about adding bots but I don't like having the bot icon next to the server when there are bots on, might detur people from joining. I guess a big fat 0 would detur them more though... I would like to avoid putting any bots on it, but if it might help I'll consider. I could try actually commin' if I load it with bots.

    I won't have time to play around with it tonight. Thursday and Friday I'll have time. Like I said, I'd like to see another good NS server up with 24+ slots, I'll try and see if I can't provide it. I'll look here for any feedback on a normal basis. If this sees any decent use in the coming months, maybe find a fellow gamer to be an admin as I can't be on everyday. Also try and get a 2Mbit connection from my ISP and use my spare Poweredge 2450 as a server, would be a lot better for me and seem more 'hands on'.

    why oh why would you not have the real console..... oh the pain. I can see maybe having to SCP sometimes to manage files, but man you've gotta setup something, even if you have to ssh in to make changes.

    Make sure to use server.cfg to manage all the settings and stuff on load or else your life will be hell. Oh, and make sure you know how to RCON. That's super important for being an admin.
