FPS drops while viewing the scoreboard

I get 60 FPS consistently (sync'd to the 60Hz of my TFT) until I view the scoreboard, drops down between 20 and 40 FPS. When I let go of TAB it goes back up to 60 FPS. Viewing the map isn't a problem.

Any ideas? :s

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ (2.4 GHz)
4 GB RAM
WinXP Pro x64
BFG 8800GT OC 512MB, SLi
1600x1200, 32-Bit, 60 Hz, Fullscreen

I've tried setting HL.exe to high/realtime priority, helps the whole game out a bit, but not the scoreboard.

No guarantees, just wildly shouting suggestions.

try setting hl.exe to low or setting only 1 cpu, 'set affinity'
make sure no steam windows are open in the background

Its the ###### nvidia dx10 card. Same problem with 8800gts 320 and 8800gt. BTW even my old 1900xt run twice better than these ######ty nvidias. I solved the problem with ati dx10 cards, much better game play.

4 Gigs of ram? wish I had that much <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> as for your problem it sounds alot like how ppl are lagging on certain parts of the map, don't know why it just does. maybe your computer is too new for NS and it dosen't want you to play it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
