I wouldn't even attempt that. our clan is BF1942 and NS currently so I'd have to host each game on seperate servers as it is. My limitation would be bandwidth too. I'd have to make a smaller NS server too in order to have enough bandwidth for the BF1942 server I'm thinking.
NS with 20 players takes up 400-700k on average leaving very little for the bf1942 server.
You all seem to forget. .Net is a true server OS. IT balances out everything from Resources used and PC Power.

That is strait from DxDiag. I had about 16 players last night and everyone was still below 100 ping. When i had 14players on XP Pro we would get some pretty bad pings. .Net as you can see. Really does make a Difference. Once i get some more stuff ill tell you how much it uses and everything with a full server load.

None of you have seen .Net yet. I have. I know what it can do. It makes all those other server OS's look like jokes. If you dont believe me then go order your copy and pay 1000$ a year for it ok? Dont say I dont know what it can do when I know what it can do. Just because you havent looked at it doesnt mean i havent. Take my advice. It owns all other server OS's.
Oh Please, Right now 1942 has a known bug that takes cpu to 100% with even one player. And on my dual 2100+ AMD MP system. the one cpu that runs the NS server, with 16 ppl is usually at 70%+ of the cpu. And on large maps like hera, etc,(after enuff ents are built) It goes up into the 85%+ range. These figures are from linux, where the 1.02 patch cpu fixxes didnt doo much. All the same with the 1942 bug, it will take your whole cpu just to run it.
So I don't care what single cpu you are useing. Or what magical OS your running. You cant run both on one cpu without lag and resource conflicts. And as far as bandwidth goes, NS uses nothing really. 40-60KB/s, Max. 1942 on the other hand, uses on average, 2-3MB/s on a 20 player server.
Winkie your stupid arent you? LoL j/k <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> You have to pretty much call Microsoft to get a copy. Only way you can that i know of.
I think you'll find that the reality is that there is no BF1942 server. It's a client with the graphics output to null. Why do you think you have to use the ` key to bring down the console? Because it's a client it attempts to use all free recourses it can lay it's hand on.

WOW THAT MAKES TEH MONEY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!
That url gives you a sample of the .NET server RC1, you know what RC means? it MIGHT be finished enough to ship, usually kinda post beta testing

It doesn't exist from what i can see
FURTHERMORE, he's stating that NS + BF1942 will run fine together DESPITE THE FACT That one takes almost 100% CPU and one DOES TAKE 100% CPU
the only possible combination I can see this working on is a GOOD Dual hyperthreaded processor box.
Dont you just love a good rant <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> These forums are turning into rant central these days.
The reality is that .NET server RC1 (there is NO advanced .NET server - only Standard and Enterprise versions exist based on the SMP support they provide!) is available for download as part of the MSDN licensing system i.e. devlopment only. If you have an MSDN Global License and can be bothered then you are free to check it out.
However, if anyone is using the .NET RC1 in a production environment then I would recomend that they not go blagging to all and sundry (i.e these forums) as they are breaking the law. Yes running a game server for public consumption is considered a production environment.
That aside, testing the server on a private network for performance information would be perfectly valid. If ZarX or anyone else is running .NET server for testing then post up some comprehensive benchmarks as a comparison. I'm sure many would appreciate the information *myself included*.
Winkie, I agree with you. He also stated that his friend , who is stufying to be a MSCE, built him such a great system that a full server uses only 0% - 5% of the CPU. Some people need to have people think good things about them I guess.

Maybe he's running one of dem der new penchium 7 thingies?
You have to call intel for one of course.
His "friend" either is him, and lying, and a moron, or did some minor reg hax to win2k or something, to make it call itself .NET Advanced Server Smarty SuperComputer Machein.
Haven: I think where I work we have a few RC copies floating about, to be honest, I haven't seen it but i don't hold out much hope.
They can add in many accessories etc, but to top Win2k Server/Advanced Server is going to take a hell of a lot.
I personally would prefer a linux/solaris setup any day, simply because, in my experience i've found them more efficient and effective, although there are situations in which windows wins.
Infact, i'm going nmap that IP when I get home and see if I can get an OS reading from it.
ZarX, is probobly around 13-14 in age, and has found RC1 on kaza or something like that. And thinks he's really cool that he has it "warez way". But he never thought about that you could download it from MS for free.
And his server are probobly empty, and he thinks that the CPU usage is the same when a server is empty/full.
BTW: ZarX, I think that RC2 is going to be release this or the next week, so why dont you find someone on kaza n download it from'em. Maybe MS is so great that they have made it using -10 % of the CPU!
Comments
What are the system specs? Is it a dual xeon system with 2gb ram?
