Detail textures

<div class="IPBDescription">Hope this is the correct place</div>Hi! I was wondering if there is a link for detailed textures anywhere? I have tried a few but all of them seem dead because they are so old <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

    Detail Textures were disabled by 3.0b5. I have a copy of them around somewhere if you really want them, but the cvar "cl_detailtextures" is locked because of a potential exploit. I pleaded with Flayra and Puzl to only lock detail textures when consistency was on, but apparently it's tough enough to just lock cvars, let alone conditionally lock them. That's also unlikely to change, because it's unlikely that we're going to see another release of NS on the goldsource engine (says puzl).

    That was a sad day indeed, frikking exploiters! It made NS, which is already the main contestant for best looking mod for goldSRC, look even better.

    Aww dang, thanks for the info! I was just looking at the old detail textures topic from when they first came out, felt strange seeing everyone bewildered by it, hahaha.

    Detail textures made an already unstable and overloaded engine even more so. The minimal improvements they made were offset by the large hit on the renderer. Even with the most modern hardware, detail textures brought the engine to its knees due to the way the renderer works.

    The brief time that I used them, they were problematic and looked extremely odd when you had a non-detail textured face next to a detail textured face.
