<div class="IPBDescription">THIS IS SO COOL !!!</div>I have just intalled the new Steam Trackmania Nations and this is so cool !!! Better graphic then the previous free Trackmania I have played.

Its been a very long time since I had so much fun playing a game !!!

About the only thing missing is the driver waving at other cars !

I think they just added it to Steam. Wasn't there a few hours ago.

Try it.

Maybe we could organize an NS Trackmania Nation tournament <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />

Aren't even non-CD versions supposed to install the PC-exploding StarForce app?

Trackmania United uses Starforce to check the key, but doesn't install the controversial driver. The Steam version of Trackmania United doesn't include Starforce at all. Trackmania Nations DOES include Starforce. As for Trackmania Nations Forever (the Steam version), unknown at the moment, but considering the Steam version of United there's hope. I'll see what I can figure out.

Trackmania is FUN. That is all. I'd be up for an NS trackmania tournament, but suspect that this stupid spherical planet and its timezones will make such an undertaking tricky.

Update: I've installed the game and played it. According to the common <a href="http://www.glop.org/starforce/detect.php" target="_blank">detection method,</a> I don't have the driver. That doesn't mean the game doesn't use Starforce, but it DOES mean that it doesn't install the controversial driver (unless they've become a whole lot stealthier about it). Whether that means you trust the game or not is up to you, but at least it means that when you uninstall the game, you uninstall any Starforce stuff that may have come with it.

How about something simple like someone creating tracks specific to the tournament ? Make those tracks available on some server where you need a password to try them. Anyone could try them in solo or with whomever is there at that time, Scores should stay on the scoreboard so you would know you ranked against the current best times.

I'm really enjoying the track builder. I spent like 2 hours building a track last night, and while its not perfect, I'm pretty happy with just how much I was able to do.

Crazy idea but why not create tracks that loosely resemble the layouts of popular NS mini-maps or anything well known in NS ?

I'll try one or two tonight after work to see if it is feasible.

I think this is an Ubisoft game so isn't available to non-U.S. people over Steam.

    I wish I were American!

I'm in Canada and I got it. So I am considered non-US

Change of subject, I wanted to find on the internet how to actually apply a bigger image to either the whole care or half of it. Didn't find anything conclusive so far. If someone finds it, we could create NS looking cars ! Just imagine a Gorg Formula-1 !

This game is great. I played the original nations until I heard about the slimy starforce (really, that's the only word I have for it... sneaking in like that.) I'm glad they've moved back to the good side of the force.

I remember wasting quite a few weeks on Trackmania when it came out.
    And by wasting, I mean having fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I'm living in the Quebec province of Canada. So when I was doing the first difficulty level, nearing the end it was showing I was 7th in my province. But then when I completed the last, one, suddenly I was 166th !!!!! Go figure.

Man, in the end, my hand was starting to hurt.

I started the 2nd Solo difficulty level.

By the way, how do you get/use those fancy links ? I assume its while in-game.

After much hand cramping during the original TM:Nations, I had to buy a gamepad. Free game still cost me $20... go figure. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

As much as it annoys me that this game contains no actual racing, it's somehow very addictive.

My account name on this is "clorf" Add me!

Yep, it's just time trial vs others. Where as Stunts had both only to lack multiplayer "pre-public" internet, I guess with these 200+ player servers the extra lag it would produce to have player collisions, would kill that feature :/

That's no excuse not to have splitscreen or LAN play at the very least.

Well, part of the problem is that they insist on having 200 players to a server, which makes the entire affair about as personal as... something that's full of hundreds of people you don't know.

Apart from that, no biggie. We don't even need collisions, those only lead to bad blood.

I cant imagine playing on a 50 person server with collisons on...

Wow, that's pretty cool. It's been while since I've tried a racing game. And I don't think I've ever played one online. It's so easy to say "one more track" when playing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> .

If there's going to be some kind of organized NS tournament, count me in! (Account name 'retales', and I'm GMT+2)
