Why dose everyone want a Shotgun so much?? I mean I dont find them that good when compared to a HMG! The HMG IMO is wayyy better! So whats so good 'bout the Shotgun?? <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'>

Well Kbot... The shotgun only takes two shots and it's all over for the skulks..It's pretty good if you have a decent aim.

One shot kills against unupgraded lerks and skulks at point blank range... 2 shots to kill a gorge I think, maybe it's just one too.

Pt. Jules: We should have shotguns for this kinda deal.
Pt. Vince: How many up there?
Pt. Jules: 3 or 4
Pt. Vince: Does that include the one we heard chuckling earlier?
Pt. Jules: Not sure.
Pt. Vince: So that means there could be up to 5 skulks up there?

Some people prefer the shotgun also because it dosen't slow down movement.. like the hmg (making it better to use with a jetpack).

I think the shot gun is annoying, because in the heat of battle when someone dies or has been dead, I pick up a shot gun without evening knowing it sometimes, and die, because ... its usually empty or just too slow...

Actually, I think that the weight of the HMG magically disappears when jetpacking, so it doesn't matter that much which weapon you use.

People want it because they don't got HMG's yet. If the Armory hasn't been upgraded yet, that is.

There should always be one with a shotgun, like there should be two with a welder (but don't give the shotgunner a welder).

As JuJi said, read that post. There are a few other ShotGun threads that have big discussions on the disadvantages/advantages and opinions/ stories of all kinds. If you don't get the information you need from them, you'll never get them.

-because its better then a LMG and cheaper then the other upgraded guns. and it also only requires one upgrade i believe....

-one concentrated shot of 160 dmg in a shot...HMGs take time to dish that out even if they do have alot more ammo

Well...you asked 2 questions and also gave your own opinions. The way you feel about them doesn't mean others feel the same way though. I personally like the shtogun. I believe you like the HMG cause it has 150 bullets/stores 225 and does heavy damage. I would say it has its good points and its bad but it is the most widely used gun for Marines so everybody feels comfortable with it.

HMG:
18 dmg unupgraded
23 dmg upgraded
150/225
high rate of fire
average bullet spray pattern

Shottie:
Not sure..is it 16 pellets and 10 dmg each or the other way around?
not sure what dmg when upgraded (like 13)
10/50
slow rate of fire
concentrated destruction

If I had a Shotgun early in the game, I can easily be the defender without any TF/turret help. That would save alot of time (alot of marines have to build and not rush hives) and money since a Shottie is about the same cost as a turret but then you have to build a TF (25) and about 4 Turrets (76). The total sum would reach 101 and a shottie would equal 22 (i believe). One shot kills ANY skulk and i have 9 more shots.

Why a shottie,

Well the first time you walk into a room full of skulks pump out a few rounds and spray skulk guts all over the wall, and still have enough ammo left in the chamber to take down another.... It is then that you too will become a shotgun junkie

In addition to get a shottie you only have to have an armory and its the cheapest of all guns (except the free lmg/pistol combo)

Now if only they would lower the cost to say 15-18rp then it would get dropped more.

I usualy take A shotty and live, becuase i can take out pretty much anything that surpises me, I've used a shotty to take out a freaken onos who was chaseing me in circles, simply becuase i didn't have to worry about aiming just turn blam run and reload the next shots.

Shotgun is good, pathetic humans.
