only space stations and installations would be a little bit boring in the long run (think about only italy stile maps in cs)

so i think a natural cave complex or some huge temple would be nice <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The problem is that natural-selection have a very specific design/look. The use of other texture MIGHT give something far from what n-s map should be. Of course what u said is true, always the same kind of maps might be borring... let's see what mappers will do <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Ns_Hera not enough for you? Go around in spectator a WHOLE outside heli-pad on a cave like planet, hell even the Maintenence hive is based underneath the planets crust. I mean if you want people to do cave get them to build a station on a nearby planet.

    anyone here played aliens vs. preadator 1 + 2?

    there are VERY cool (singelplayer) maps that would perfectly fit into the ns mood

    i mean why must there always be a marine base?

    or anyone remebered the first alien lvl in avp1?

    think about my example with only italy stile maps on CS (or make it dust like)

    One of the largest problems with outdoor map is the terrain and commander mode. Bumpy and well-designed terrain can be a really big annoyance for a commander to place buildings, and etc.

    Also, ns_shaft, ekaj's wonderful looking map, will take place in a mining facility underground, with alot of rocky walls and whatnot.

    And as for temples, you could make some really sweet high tec looking temples. If you do not beleave me go play Unreal Tournament 2k3. They have some awsome egyption style temples in that game. They are HUGE and deathmatch style so i wouldnt copy them, but you can get some ideas of how to incorperate the temple look with the techy look.

    I think underground mining facilities are the next common step for ns maps.

    By space station do you mean a station in space or a station on a planet somewhere, but the planet is in space quite a bit of the time.

    Also ns_kara and ns_valhalla should be quite different from the space station setting you refer to. (i'm not too sure - where are they each set again KFS?)

    There are a number of mine levels in production for sure. Whetever or not they will vary that much from other levels is too be seen. No-one wants to run through constantly rocky corridors so it will probably still very much have teh same feel as other maps but with a few very rocky areas and cool mine things.

    if I finish my current map and decide to do another their could be the possiblity of a landbased map... But I mean There are sooo many ways you can make natural terrian that commanders can still like.... Hell my Alien infested areas will look EXTREAMLY organic near the hive as EVERYTHING is grown over.
