Making good screenshots?

<div class="IPBDescription">god</div>K, so i feel like a newb for saying this, but i just searched for over an hour for something, anything, that could help me take screenshots in NS.

r_drawviewmodel 0 works for a milisecond. I have cheats and dev on, but the model still pops instantly back. Any help? I also can't seem to find the command to remove the HUD.

I always go into the map from the readyroom (as a readyroom spawn) using noclip. You have to start Ns with the -dev parameter and also have to start the map using the console, not the server creation menuitem.

This way you have sv_cheats, developer mode activated and noclip will actually work instead of telling you that it is not possible on a multiplayer server ^_^

Good point, i never even thought about using the RR and noclip'ing. Thanks.

So were the hud-hiding and weapon-drawing ripped out at some point or something? It seems strange to have to use this method just to get clean screenies.

Personally i bind +left, +right, +lookup, +lookdown, +moveup, +movedown, then i use the spectate command from the RR and move the camera around using nothing but my keyboard. Works in multiplayer as well with sv_cheat 0/dev 0 btw. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Use the spectate command? Spectator cant move freely in NS, and definitely cant during an actual game. What are you talking about?

Hmm, just checked on a live server and you're partly right about the "actual game" thing, my bad. It seems like that if you have someone to spectate (another marine, for example), they don't work at all. But in some (rare?) cases (everyone in your team is dead or something?), they do work even in multiplayer. Well whatever, i honestly cba to search for details about that right now... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Anyway, it's just the keys i use for taking screenshots. I find it easier to take good screenshots with that "16:9 style". Bind them and try. Or don't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I agree on the widescreen aspect being better for screenshots. I just take normal 4:3 shots and then crop them though. Cropping the other way works nicely too (making a sort of 9:16 pic)
