<div class="IPBDescription">Christmas $/£ To Spend On Myself For Once.</div>Can those of you with (electric) guitar knowledge take a look at this auction listing and let me know if it's a decent starting point?

I've never even picked up a guitar but a friend of mine insists it's not too difficult to learn, just requires practice.
And he's offered tutorials / to share his wisdom and skills when he's in the area.

So, thoughts and opinions anyone?

Thanks.

Given that the bundle is $200, I'm going to go out a limb and say that the stuff you get will not be of the greatest quality. However, for someone just trying to figure out whether they'll really take to guitar or not, that's not a bad deal for a 'starter pack' sort of thing. You could use that to see if you want to invest in a real guitar or not. The iAxe that 6john linked to is probably a good cheap solution that will give you more sounds to tinker with, and take up considerably less space.

Difficulty of learning will really depend on you, how flexible and strong your fingers are (which can be worked on) and how much practice and effort you're willing to put in, but in general I don't find guitar a very difficult instrument to learn the basics for. Once you actually learn how to play, you can worry about how to achieve specific types of sounds and playing style.

also consider a nice cheap acoustic for your first guitar. no wires to mess with.
