Metal screen in OpenGL

I recently reformatted my pc, and now when I run ns with OpenGL, the screen is metal-looking. However, when ns I run ns with D3D, The screen is normal-but the fps is lower(below 30 sometimes). I believe that I have all the latest drivers installed for my video card(GeForce6200). I dont use any third-party programs. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Well, the HL engine does not play will with D3D, so that is why you get the performance drop.

The wonky textures could either be a bad install, or something going wrong with your video card/drivers.

My suggestions are (do em in order, if one fixes it, you are set <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />):
1) reinstall NS (preferably from a new download from a different location)
2) Try installing and playing a different HL1 mod, if you get the same problems then we KNOW it is your computer.
3) Try reinstalling the drivers for your card (make sure you fully uninstall the old drivers first)

It's worth noting that the current version of NS must run in OpenGL.

I have found the solution to this problem! The latest nvidia drivers for my video card (Geforce 6200) were not compatible. If anyone else has this problem, you need to find old drivers to replace your new ones. Eventually, nvidia will hear about this (most likely already) and will work on fixing this and come out with new "new drivers".

I too have a GeForce 6200SE Turbocache but i run the latest NVIDIA driver and it runs fine.
169.21_forceware_winxp_32bit_international_whql.exe. It also runs fine on 163.71_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe.
I had a same-ish problem a long time ago, but the new drivers work fine. So its not "the" solution.

It could also depend on the video card that you have. You may have a different video card than we do RoCity, because I have that exact same problem with the new driver and the beta driver. (NVIDIA 7600 GT) When I play with OpenGL I get a horrible picture in the game. And I've been playing the game for years with very little problems, the problem had occured right after I upgraded to the latest driver. Reinstalling the game didn't help neither. So I'm gonna revert to the one I had back in November. At least until they fix that issue. Don't even bother try the beta driver neither because you'll have the same issue. Also what I noticed after playing the game was that is when I restarted my computer, it would freeze up after logging into every account I have. (Windows XP Service Pack 2) The OpenGL probably corrupts some file once its used, so the whole driver would have to be reinstalled yet again in Safe Mode. So please safe yourself the trouble and hassle don't upgrade the drivers unless its absolutely necessary.
