Marine Modification & New Turrets and Chambers

<div class="IPBDescription">1 Chamber on either side, along with marines are discusssed</div>I would like to make 2 suggestions. The first is a marine class system. Aliens currently have a class based system which certain weapons are used and certain abilities are gained. Marines could have 3 basic classes, much like the ones of Empires Mod. Engineers would have an upgraded welding skill, with much faster welding and would be given smgs as a primary weapon, but would be given a welder, and no armor upgrades. Scouts would be given JPs on spawn, once research is completed, and given shotguns, with a significantly lower welding rate. Assault Class would be given heavy armor, once research is completed, and also be given shotguns, with a higher welding rate than scouts, but lower than engineers.

My second is a new turret, aliens should be given an anti-heavy turret, which can only attack soldiers with heavy armor, and cannot attack buildings. I think this would give aliens a fighting chance against heavy rushing and even out the playing field a little bit more. I also think an advanced turret should be allowed, dealing more damage than the regular turret, to prevent the constant overflow of aliens rushing past the much loved siege maps.

    one of the main ideas for the teams in ns is to make them very different. if aliens have classes, marines should not.

    I agree with N_3, but not for the same reason. I guess that the Marines should start with the weapons you suggested, which makes buying weapons useless. (depending on you class), Also, dropping weapons and picking them up would be like cheating, as an engineer could have HMG and good welding power.

    Your second idea with the heavy armor alien turret, wouldn't really bring much new gameplay. It would just be some other building you needed to drop when you know heavies are coming.

    I do agree that the marines should have SOME sort of upgrade system, whether it is through the commander or by their own choosing, but if too much choice is taken away from the commander you have some potentialy HUGE problems. Say I am comm and I see my team waste all their upgrades on GLs at the begining of a game, I already know they are going to lose, or I just don't like the choice/s they made, so I eject myself and run around until we all die. Maybe everyone chooses LA and JPs simply because they are fun... Great, now we lose cause we should have been doing something else instead of flying around and trying to chase skulks...

    There are many other ways this situation could go south too. I do think there should be some sort of customization, not just how your player looks, but only so much. It gets to a point when the commander needs to be able to "tug on the leash," if ya know what I mean. Class based, just like any other upgrades would be nice, but needs to be limited in my opinion to certain aspects. They are making a mod, not just for "clanners," but also for the majority of us who play on public servers. Gotta keep everyone in mind also.

    They are called OCs. I could see something cool like an upgrades OC being available, giving us more choices and situational dependancies, but turrets that only attack HAs? It sounds like you are maybe gettin your butt kicked by HAs [?].

    so a non-HA could run up, knife the HA-only-OC to death, because it's not going to attack him, then with the way clear the HAs could just move along? That sounds pretty damn useless to me.

    also if you would give marines jetpacks at the start it would imbalance the game so much aliens would not be able to win

    I think the basicly HEAVY OFFENSIVE chamber basicly is a <!--coloro:#00FF00--><span style="color:#00FF00"><!--/coloro-->GOOD<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--> idea.

    but i thionk a little far from U.

    the heavy off is attack HEAVYIES, and BUILDINGS. (Across wall like sieges?)
