Sound Consistency In 1.03

Added support for model and sound consistency checking. If you run your server with mp_consistency 1, it will require that all NS models and sounds are unchanged from the distribution.

I realize that some sounds can be used to exploit with, but not all of em. For exable, the HUD sounds (that is the sounds that say stuff like "the hive is under attack") should not be checked as I can't see one feasable method they could be used as exploits. This goes for some of the models as well but not quite as much.

I'm sure its much easier to just say "all the models/sounds have to be the same" than to have the dev team off thinking for days trying to come up with every possible way to cheat with the sounds and models, and then only enforce the ones that you can cheat with.

Heh, well some people might get sick of hearing the hive mind blasting in their ears every 10 seconds. I was personally thinking of decreasing the volume on those sounds, so I can hear the rest of the game better. Granted, this would give me an advantage, but it's more of an annoyance thing than an exploit thing.

    Oh well.

I just turn the volume right down when i play, makes things easier on my ears and more importantly on my housemates.

Ok. The main reason I brought this up is because the volume on many of the hud statements was WAY too high. I played as alien on a 12 vs 12 server and heard quite loud "lifeforms under attack" and "structure is under attack" messages at least once every 5 seconds. These volumes were louder than most of the other sounds in the game! So, I edited all the HUD wav files and reduced their volume by 75%! ...and it was finally quiet enough for my tastes. Today, I played again as an alien on a 1.03 server and it kicked me for having invalid wav files. I had to revert back to the default wav files and I almost couldn't stand it.

I would like this to be resolved either by 1) removing checking for the hud directory or 2) allowing me to change the HUD volume to what I want separate from the volume of the rest of the game. There is an HEV suit volume console variable and I think that could easily double as HUD volume; but currently it does not. Maybe there is an existing console variable that changes the HUD volume- if so PLEASE tell me.

Also, turning down the volume as Dem said (obviously) reduces the volume of the rest of the game sounds- which would be unacceptable since those sounds are at acceptable levels. Its just that the HUD sounds are much too loud in comparison to the others.

HUD volume (if possible) GOOD IDEA! love it! Give the man a lollipop!

If its a choice between the lollipop or the hud volume fix, I'll take the fix.
