Are you logged in as an administrator? If you are, make sure your computer isn't using any of the files it might need to modify (aka, make sure crysis isn't running). Possibly restart then try again I guess.

no, i need to know how to turn this off so i don't have to do any of that.

And just because the demo wont work, that doesn't mean that the actual game won't work... does it? Like if i go out and buy it.

EDIT: As I know how accurate you are with information, a screenshot to prove you are so we could progress would be nice Belgian Waffles.

Do i need to have crysis installed for the editor to work... i mean i've tried installing it but each time i try, no shortcut comes up for Crysis.

Maybe I should make this clearer like talking to a child.

Please show us a picture of user screen saying you are admin. Then we can help you do the rest to turn off the nasty little message.

wait a sec, i found the document containing all my crysis folders, but half of them are in ZIP format so should i just extract all of those to there directories and than see if i can run it?

it certainly seems likely, doesn't it?

Anyway, Mr. Waffles. Let me explain this to you. Vista offers a lot of commands that can be used to hurt your computer. To prevent bad programs using these commands, access to them is restricted. Crysis needs to use some of these commands and so it needs permission to do so. That is why it wants administrator mode. Running Crysis in administrator mode gives it access to the commands it needs to use.

Well i've only had Vista for a couple months and i haven't really bothered to really learn anything about it so that's helpful but it doesn't matter anymore, i'll just buy it when it comes out...

I'm not going to put this much damn time into a demo...

not really, the demo has different content than the actual full length game, and since i downloaded it, it's treated as unknown content. If all else fails i'll just turn to my freind, he's fixed my computer atleast 8 times from viruses and installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. when i was having trouble with it.

You're going to have this exact same problem with the full version of the game, download or not. You're also going to have trouble with many other games (although the new "Games for Windows" certified games coming out are certified to run in a standard account).

It's possible that shortcuts aren't being created because the installer doesn't have administrator access. Right-click on the installer and select Run as administrator. Allow it to install. Go to the directory that it installed to, then right-click on every EXE there and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and check the "Run as administrator" box. You'll have to confirm every time you start the game, but it'll run properly.

I want to emphasize this: <b>You're going to have this exact same problem with the full version of the game.</b>

    Vista = Crap

I mean, it evens eats up 256 Mb's of RAM to use so, what's my incentive of liking it?

It's difficult to use, slows my computer, keeping it from achieving the highest it can, and is just overall useless....

I'm pretty sure that crysis will be in the games for windows program - its the only game so far where DX10 does any good lol.

So maybe just chill St. Waffles for two weeks and then you'll have your editor <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I have a dual boot machine xp and vista, and i also didnt get a crysis shortcut when i installed it (with full admin rights)

<b>Anyway to disable the UAC, just go START -> CONTROL PANEL -> USER ACCOUNTS -> TURN OF USER ACCOUNT CONTROL</b>

it sure is <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> it gets annoying really quick when you are trying to do anything other than browse the internet. Like even if you are copying files around, changing shortcuts so that they have a command line windows decides it better warn you.

i guess it severs the same purpose as those signs that say "drive saftely" - deerrrrr OK MR SIGN.... i was about to do a 360 jump but now i won't cause a sign said. :S
in otherwords it severs no purpose for anyone with a brain.

Because otherwise programs could run stuff in the background when you're logged in as an admin, and change a lot of crap without your permission? It's like if you install something and it starts trying to access a bunch of system files it doesn't need. Vista will ask you first, and then of course you will realize there's something wrong.
