I let my father drive my Jeep

this is what happens..
Okay, so I owned a Jeep Cherokee 90' about a year back. It was used and old enough to be my little brother. After a while things start to go wrong, as the often do with cars that are this old. So I sell it for $1,500 and buy a 2004 Jeep Liberty Sport.

So my father has drove it several times, I'm used to him asking to borrow it because his AC is broke in his Taurus. I'm fine with it as long as he puts gas in the tank. I'm unemployed and a homebody so I rarely go out. Maybe once every two weeks now. I go out today with my father and on the way home I see this.

What I had thought to be a pine needle the whole trip turned out to be a crack in my windshield. There's no real penetration of the glass but a crack is a crack. It looked like someone had shot a bb gun at my car. After I noticed it he gets quiet. Shortly after we get home he recalls what happened. He was driving to town and a semi passed him. Something hit the windshield, though he could he scanned the window and didn't find a thing.
Of course I am mad, even though it wasn't a preventable accident it was an accident on his watch none-the-less. This however is the real kicker. I've never been in an accident so I've never dealt with an insurance company before. Short of paying out of my ###### to insure my vehicle. $920 for six months. They tell me I have a five hundred dollar deductable, now I know what a deductable is from my health insurance. The crack cannot be repaired and the windshield must be replaced, the lowest estimate is $250. My rage begins here. I've owned the vehicle for almost a year now, full coverage, no accidents and I finally have need of them and I have to pay to fix my vehicle? Wtf am I paying them for? If I have full coverage and I pay on time they need to be taking that money they're swindling and repair my ######ing windshield.
While I worked for Simmons I had life insurance. It was like six bucks a month for accidental death coverage. The coverage extended up to $150,000. There was no ######ing deductable that my family would have to poney up so they could receive the money. If I kicked it, they got paid. So, my car gets damaged and I have to pay to fix it? When I pay more for ######ing vehicle insurance than life insurance? Things like this simply make me want to set the world on fire and smile for the TV cameras.

anyway, about the deductible - you can probably talk to the insurance company about reducing/eliminating it, at the cost of a slightly higher premium. but as far as the insurance company is concerned, the deductible is doing its job perfectly. if deductibles didn't exist, people would claim every little thing, which would mean a lot more paperwork and a lot more money they'd have to shell out and consequently much higher premiums for everyone... it sounds like you already pay a lot for insurance, though. I pay $720 for full coverage from Progressive in Pennsylvania - maybe you should shop around a bit.
but yes, that sucks. I got a brand new 2008 Scion last month and had a flat tire 2 weeks later. I knew the tires were warrantied for a year but the dealer told me A) they couldn't fix it and B) it didn't count because there was a pinhole in the side of the tire, which is irreparable apparently and also not a manufacturer's defect covered by the warranty. so, $150 new tire before I even make my first damn car payment. The whole reason I actually bought a new car is because I was sick of driving beat up old things that I had to dump money into all the time... but The Man always has a way of getting you.
Well, simply put my father is a moron.
I googled Georgia no fault law and couldn't find any decent information on it. Where exactly did you go to make your claim?
BTW it may be a minute little crack, but I don't want a minute little crack on my windshield. Can't really explain it much better than that.
I'm not sure how one would repair a glass pane.
These seem like the sort of questions you ask before you start paying the insurance company.
Yeah, I had the same thoughts. I was expecting the thing to be double wrapped around a tree or hanging off some guy's roof.
As for the crack...well, those CAN get worse. Eventually it'll become more cracks and just totally spider out all over the pane.
Sorry to dissapoint, but if it was wrapped around a great oak I probably wouldn't have started a thread about it.
The world's going to explode because my starbucks spilled? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
That's what armor-all is for.
