Allow spectating the commander

<div class="IPBDescription">When dead or just specing</div>I think this would be cool, and with the less limited source engine, this may be possible without horrible bugs. It would be nice to know what the commander is doing, or if you are a noob then you can spec the commander, watch, and learn.

sounds like a good idea.... theres no better way to learn how to do something than to see someone actually doing it..

I think this is a given. If they can they will, they simply couldnt in ns one with out major bus or some such, key note as to why its in the do not suggest thread in I&S.

GREAT idea. Always wanted to do this. Even if you couldn't spectate from "joining" the game, but just from the ready room, so you can't cheat from alien side or whatever. Spectating the whole game would help me be a better commander X 100,000,000!

I support this idea; it would be a fool-proof way of learning how to comm, given a good commander to spectate, ofcourse. It'd also be very interesting to see the league team's commanders in action, from their own point of view. And anyone that claims this idea to have no use; hasn't played the game on normal public servers enough.

The ability to spectate the commander is something we're planning on including in NS2.

What might make this work... would be the ability to be a sub com, like in the big games!
Have a consul attached nearby to the comm chair, and he could be a lesser commander!

People were talking about, in other topics, the ability to limit a comms hearing on the map, to only were he is looking, or near marines, (or what would make this work, only were he is looking where his marines are).

Basically, the other guy would be able to be a second set of ears, moniterating groups that the comm isn't on his screen, and dropping cheap stuff, like med packs, or equipment. if there were 2 assaults going on, one could monitor each, making life more efficient for the marines.

Of course this would make life harder on the aliens, which i am partial 2, so disreadard this post <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Anyway just think about it, it would give experience 2 noobs, and making comming against better alien players more efficient.

i'd rather have another marine putting bullets into aliens than having some guy sit in a chair and look around at the map

Good stuff, it will be a great way for new players to learn how to comm.
