These cicles represent the approximate range of siege cannons (I tested the range on another map) as you can see by simple holding the mess hall on NS nancy the marines can prevent the aliens from building up resouce nozzles in 3 places! 4 if you include mess hall itself.

If you also manage to secure atleast one hive as well as mess hall you cut the aliens off from all resouces spots except the ones inside their 2 hives. This would mean the marines gets resouces from 4 nozzles, the one in base, the one just outside base, the one in mess hall and finally the one in their hive. While the Aliens just get resouces from 2 nozzle and have 2 hives... they have NO CHANCE if it turns out like that.

This is exactly what happened last time I played NS_nancy the marines had mess hall, main base plus the bottom left hive.

The 3 resouce spots within siege range were pretty much nomans land... they didn't hold em but we couldn't build up any resouce towers there due to siege cannons.

And that's why the Mess Hall is an extremely important location for both sides on ns_nancy. Routes that pass through the Mess Hall lead to two hives, so if the aliens control it, it's tough for the marines to break though. Both sides have an advantage to holding it.

That all depends.. if your marine team is good then they will build them pronto... and they will defend it if you tell em so. Not with me when i tell my marines to go to a way point they instead rebel and want a shotgun instead of a hmg and run off to do other things... Also its very easy to destroy that spot... 1)dont let the marines claim it 2) just use fade and lerks to mow down the place.... but usually mess hall is considered second base to marines in this map

I could see a reason to complain if sieges were actually working properly, but as it stands they do 1/2 1/3 or 0 damage most of the time, so what exactly are you complaining about?

    Well, they will be working. Eventually, anyway. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

What i never seen this... i went on a draw back server back in 1.01 and it showed 180 most of the time... and this patch that came otu doesnt have draw dmg i know but it works properly or even better then 1.01 because the building die real fast faster then it seemed in 1.01...

This was also brought up in a discussion on Bast. If I remember right, the mapper eventually came in and sait that near the end of the beta testing, Siege Cannon range was increased considerably.

Well if the marines can hold the fades off for a little while they'll start starving for resouces (if the marines manage to kill a few), just by taking mess hall the marines make sure there is no way the aliens can get more than half as much resouces as the marines do.

1 Hive + Mess hall and you can relax if the commander is smart enough to put up siege in all corners, cause there is no way the aliens will be able to break through and take mess hall with only 2 working resouce towers while the marines have atleast 4.

This is just pure lameness... the moment the marines take mess hall it's over. Sure occasionally the aliens have been able to take the mess hall away from the marines, but NEVER when the commander has been smart enough to put up siege in these spots.

If the aliens manage to capture mess hall the marines can just set up some siege towers to take it out then march in and secure it and set up these siege cannons

Well, that's exactly what I always do when I'm commanding in Nancy... Mess Hall, seige in corner, seige the bottom left hive.

The seiging in Mess hall is unreal.

Once siege start working properly, the range will be cut just enough to make bast and nancy work again ... I bet 1.04, anyone?

    sound good to me,
increase the range of the sieges by 20% then
maybe my crappy commander can do something.

Nah. Just don't let the marines build the sieges. You have played bad on the wrong map.

segie has lods of bugs on lots of maps , but it works on this map better than most because of the huge range it has , yeh the mess hall it one of the mosy inportant locations on the map , but a good position to hold it thelarge room above the ladders out side the mess hall. the room leads to 2 hives via the ground and vents
