Considering that many Steam games get released on both the Steam Network, and in retail version, it's not so unlikely or unusal if NS2 could be released in both downloadable and retail version. And IF NS2 would be released in Retail version, a collectors edition would not be entirely unimpossible.
Well the headcrab plushie (a silly word, it's a stuffed toy for crying out loud, grow up and call it that <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />) was $25 if I remember correctly. I think cost of these things depends mainly on the size of the creature (a small gorge, like a foot isn’t going to cost more that $20, where as a full size one would be more like $100), the amount of stuffing needed (also mainly to do with size), the type of fabric used (a unique design would require the material to be made) and the detail of parts (smaller parts, like teeth and claws clearly make constructing one of these things much harder, so would require more time and effort = higher cost).
Based on the current NS gorge model and what I have just looked (a good 400 animals) at on stuffed-animals.com, I would imagine it is completely possible to make a small (quarter size) gorge for retail at $25-$35. I think that you would have to remove some of the detail though, maybe have a closed mouth, less spines on the back etc. Perfectly possible though. I imagine a full size gorge would cost quite a bit more, $100-$300 to buy (not to make). Dude. If it came with really nice packaging, a gorge plushy (even a small one), some prints of the concept art and some other nice perk I'd totally shell out some big bucks.
