<div class="IPBDescription">lots of people have them</div>Any chance that NS2 will get support for the little LCD screen on the G15 keyboard? HL2 and its mods already have support for it.
I got one last week and its awesome <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> It can show anything its programmed to ranging from ammo and health, to your scoreboard, and even in game chat, its a great idea, why clog the hud <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

When it comes to these areas, I feel sad for not having a G15 keyboard. *Cry*

Yeah I have a G15 keyboard, but I find I never look at it in game. However thinking of the screen, what about dual screen support. So say the map/scoreboard on the other screen.

I've always found the concept of an LCD on a keyboard rather strange when it comes to gaming. Don't you want information presented on the screen, rather than on the keyboard?

Usually, you'll have important things like health/ammo on your screen, where you can have your score, or like top 5 on there, and you can have like 4 different "modes" to switch through, I know in world of warcraft you can do your character's stats, whenever someone whispers you a message will pop up, and also when your in pvp it shows your stats, time left etc.

you still need the important stuff on the screen like health ammo and cross hair, but anything else like chat & stats etc can be put on the keyboard or 2nd screen to minize cluttler and maximise imersion <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> ooh imagine some special stats or info commanders could have on their lcd keyboards.

If i could choose, i think the perfect immersive set up would be to only show the crosshair on the screen, ammo would be displayed on weapon model, health/ armour would be displayed by how many scratches and how much you are bleeding by looking down to see your player model.
Then stats, chat and everything non essential would be displayed on the keyboard <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

what about things like waypoints - you could have a digital compass or radar on the keyboard, or even a basic minimap! or something to do with motion tracking.

Even though the lcd is seperate to your monitor, it still does feel more immersive, might be to do that it feels like you are using a piece of equipment from the game, rather than just the keyboard.

Also there are all of those Gkeys for macros, I'd imagine they would be useful for commanding as well

Schkorpio, you suggestion will never work for one simple reason; not everyone has, or can afford a G15 and it's a lot of hussle to create (e.g. options to set this) for such a small group of users. I do like the general idea of seeing your ammo on the gun, it has been done in several games in the past. Yet, you'll always need a HUD to display some other things. As for this, it could be an idea to visually enhance the HUD by making it part of the "model", for instance marines can have one of those small see-through screens in front of one of their eyes. (don't know what they're called) Where heavies have an entire helmet on, can also be a "screen" to display this. Such technology even exists today.

But, that's all random slanter, unrelated to your suggestion. A G15 support addon would be nice; but not required, I find that I don't use my LCD as much as you would think (it serves as a clock for me); only the macro buttons.

What do you mean it will never work - it works in plenty of other games already.I know not everyone has a G15, but a decent amount of people do - this doesnt need to specifically come out with the first release or anything, or it can even be made by the community.
I'm not saying that everyone should have the exact same set up - its an option for people with the G15.

If you read my post well enough you would have seen that I already pointed towards it being an option.

Well I'm not ehre to read other peoples posts well enough, I'm here to make ludicrous demands so that the game can suit my needs so perfectly, that it will actually turn into the game that i wanted to make lol <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
