    Planescape: Torment.

My hands-down favorite. I would have said Deus Ex (my favorite game of all time), but it's not really a "pure" RPG.

I would most likely have to say Secret of Mana. I owned it for the SNES, and played it endlessly. Definitely one of my favorite games of all times. However, agreeing with flatline, Deus Ex and System Shock 2 are the best Single Player games ever created. Period.

I would sell my soul to Warren Spector. Well, maybe not mine, I've got 3 on post-it notes in my wallet that I've accumulated from various bets throughout the years...

Take that, Joey Dubios! And Chris Meredith! And Peter Hofstad! I win!

    Why, Ultima Online of course.

But if you meant singleplayer... Escape Velocity, which I think qualifies to some degree.

Add Terranigma and ChronoTrigger to that and I totally agree with Cyanide.

chrono trigger and seceret of mana
seceret of mana is sweet when you have 3 people playing

Chrono Trigger and FF VI were awesome too, but I still put Planescape: Torment above them. Not many games get you asking yourself about the meaning of life. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm going to go with Planescape: Torment, the Fallout series run a close second. Secret of Mana is pretty good, gosh there's lots of fun RPGs out there, no one's named Lufia (1 or 2) yet, to my surprise.

I forgot about the Escape Velocity series. Very addictive. EV Nova is getting a PC port quite soon.
