<div class="IPBDescription">Saw it in a mod</div>Ok i was on a server a while back and they were building chambers on walls!

I think this should actually be implemented into NS2 as a nice feature.
Only problem i found with this is that you can block off an entire section more effectively than you already can.

If any ideas on how you could make something to combat the chambers on walls idea, from the "marines side" just throw it in.

    Negative, its stupid. Physically, it doenst make sense.

    Not to mention theres just no point to do it.




    On the other hand, whatd be REALLY cool is:

    If you couldnt build chambers anywhere.

    You had to look at infestation, and then pick the chamber, and one would slowly grow out of the infestation. Keeps people from oc spamming around the map.

    And chambers/ocs in hive vicinity, which is good. and make ocs cost 5 res. More viable in a proper game.

    Itd also stop gorges from just running into a marine base and spamming OCs

    As to combatting them unless it's a high ceiling map conventional methods normally work.

    The concept is quite realistic if you've seen it in action.

    Odd, I haven't noticed that - I thought it looked very realistic. I mean, it's space, where does it say everything has to grow on a horizontal plane?

    Read your post already of course, but that doesn't mean I or anyone else has to agree with it.

    I don't like the starcraft like idea, it would give marines a HUUUGE advantage cus aliens had to WAIT for the infestation to grow while marines quckly would have it killed.

    It would also make mini bases outside a marine base impossible cus the marines wouldnt need more than 2-3 marines to keep it away.

    Not to mention it shouldn't be easy for aliens to quickly create a wall of offense chambers outside a marines base.

    I've always thought aliens should be able to build on ceilings etc, it would give them an advantage when gl's become available, which basically make oc's useless. Marines would think twice before firing grenades up into the air at chambers. Oh an oc's should be 5 res.

    Offense chambers should be able to stick on walls. You gotta place them in good spots otherwise its just a waste of res. Upgrade chambers should stay on the ground.

    As for looks it does not matter, you see lots of Fungi etc growing in all sorts of weird places and angles. So the chamber has glue on it base its physically possible !

    yeah it should be this way- oc's speed up and spread out the infestation <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

    having chambers of all kinds on walls is awesome, and i'm guessing that the infestion and chambers will have a uniform look in ns2 instead of a fleshy oversized chessboard piece thingy.

    I still think infestation build is good...

    I suppose at the very least id like to see the chamber you place itself grows its infestation around it

    I just think a random organic structure in the gorge on a metal floor looks silly.

    What he said. Please stop hijacking this thread Stars since you wrote your own all ready, this is about chambers on walls.

    I think making it so only some chambers can be built anywhere would be reasonable also. For example, SC and OC can but MC cannot because only wall-walking/flying aliens would be able to reach chambers on the ceiling.

    Chambers and DI should be related and DI would be boring if it only worked on the floors, yes?

    But hell yeah I'm in support for this idea. And as far as looks, make models bend or different model files depending on the angle then it'll look fine. Or even cooler, make some unique chambers depending on the angle like spore shooters for walls or barnacles for the ceilings. Making it look polished is what the developer's job is, so to hell with you close-minded naysayers I say go for it!

    chambers on walls i do not like physically its impossible and visually it is unkind on the eye but chambers on the ceiling might be a good idea because looks quite nice as well as actually being possible
