Hello, lone time player first time on the forum, however, i notice I've been mentioned. Anywho how about the possibility of having more that 2 teams in play both for combat and NS. Competitive/co-op what ever.

just a thought.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
In TFC, a very popular map was "Murderball" in which 4 teams tried to gain possesion of a single soccer ball and keep it for as long as possible. So I don't think the idea of 'more than 2' teams is really bad. It may be way way too confusing for a 'regular' NS map game, but for a custom...go for it =D.
And from my experiance TFC is a very shallow, dull, bleak game.
NS is about strategy, and thinking about what the enemy is doing. Then countering. So the game swings back and forth.
In a 4 team FFA match.... one team could just turtle and sit at spawn with HA and HMG's until all other teams dont bother wasting resources attacking them, and then they wait till other teams are dead and take the victory... Stupid.
It could work in combat, but i think combat is the worst addition to NS yet. I hope its non-existant in NS2

I don't see how, they would have to compete for resources. My thought is that this might produce more complex strategies. Yes combat can be fun but it seemed to kill of most of the ns which is what made the game different. Not much need to work as a team with combat.

OMG yes this is a must remember the "give me give me give me com" at the start of a game. Then being kicked for not giving in to stupidity. That was painful.

it STILL is painful..
im an RTS player, so i love commanding, and the number of times i get blamed for a loss, when its so not my fault. Ugh... and the good players just keep quiet, cos they dont want to argue with newbs. So its frustrating.
in conclusion, people need to learn to LISTEN TO THEIR COMMANDERS
like, even if in the game, there was a simulated commander. who in a real voice, told you what to do, if you didnt do it, you failed. yep.

bloody chiss always seeking attention
on topic though - 4 way play is a great idea - not for vanilla NS classic though, like stars said there would need to be an objective that all 4 teams are trying to go for. Like capture a flag/ball and hold on to it for a long time - or a flag that randomly spawns in either of the 4 bases then its up to the 3 other teams to try and steal it, needing strong defense and offense. Or something like hold the central area of the map for longest to win etc. pretty much any game mode you would fine in a 4-8 player RTS

I seem to vaguely recall a plugin where you could have 4 teams on an ns_map (or was it combat?). It's been quit a while but I do remember they were different colors on the scoreboard. While I'm thinking about it, I remember seeing one where it was ns_eclipse, and MvM... pretty wild. Needless to say, it completely broke the game.
Ever heard of SC 2v2? 4 players...RTS. If thought through, a map designed for 4 'teams' (2 rine, 2 alien) could be exceptionally unique and interesting if balanced and constructed correctly around some sort of 'logic'.

Hey moomanchoo, long time no see.
You should hop back on GA some time :]
In contrast, this is a bad idea. Sorry.

Atleast it did in Australia for us.
Kids who didnt get it played CO, then came to NS, and wow, did games start sucking.
Oh well. Its getting better these days. Now the hypes over.
I think NS2 should require you to pass some tests before you can play online.
Kind of like... Americas Army (i think?)
The game should have some inbuilt scripted "missions" with bots... so you have to pass tests in like...
- Commanding (even if you don't like it, you should know how it works)
- Building
- Defending
- Movement
- Upgrades
- TECH TREE
- RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- _____TEAM WORK______
