Not too many applications this time around...

==================================================

<b>Soul_Rider</b>

Standard TWG - This will be 1/4 of the players as wolves the rest will be humans incorporating:

1x Seer
1x Psychic
1x Guardian

Wolves will have Transparent Minds power as previously used by Theslan. This will be limited to (number of wolves -1) uses.

For those unaware - Transparent Minds gives wolves the opportunity to listen into the thoughts of 1 player per night. If the player they examine is the psychic or the seer they will overhear their messages.

Other than that it will be as normal. I may introduce a mini-game if I can work one out, but IT WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE MAIN GAME. There will be no artifacts or other game altering parts, it will merely be a diversion to try and keep people interested and provoke conversation in the game.

Please note the initial game spaces will be set to 12. If this fills up quickly then more spaces will be added.

==================================================

<b>EMP Demon</b>

Building on XV's game, for the most part.

Player count: 12/16
Wolf count: 3/4
Human roles: Psychic, Guardian, 2x Graeae, Random Vigilante
Other roles: Lovers x2

Guardian has the previous 2/3 multiplier to consecutive guards on the same person.

Graeae: Seer ability, but may only check every second night (One is designated as even nights, the other as odd.) They see each other as wolves.

Random Vigilante: Any regular human (non-role) may be the random vigilate. They are not told this role. Otherwise, the role works as normal.

Lovers: When one dies, the other dies. Can stack on any role, including wolf, but both lovers cannot be wolves.

Note - Winning scenarios with wolf + human lovers:
Human lover survives if the wolf lover is the last wolf lynched.
Wolf lover survives if the human lover is alive when wolves win normally.
Both lovers win if they are the last two players left alive.

The latter player/wolf counts will only be increased if there's a certainty of them filling. (i.e. 12 people sign up, they get slots, but 4 more have to sign up before any of those 4 get in. Similar to how I did it before, only officialized. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />)

==================================================

We'll decide the winner whenever we seem to reach a consensus.

And, of course, good luck to whoever does win it.

    Yah, I like half seers, I think we should try them out a bit more <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I might not be able to play this time around honestly as my internet at home is DEAD, if it is fixed, I will be in, if not, I dono.

I think all variable roles create a more interesting game (I have been watching the past couple of TWG's)and would like to see things like the even and odd seers used more often.

    P.S. Hi everyone <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

Transparent minds seems like a nice thing to give the wolves. Going back to a simpler set of roles might actually work now that we have wolves that are trying more interesting tactics (fake seers, self-wolfing). I don't see it being worthwhile to create a minigame with no in-game benefits though; I think people would ignore it mostly. This game also has nothing to prevent a seer-guardian combination.

We saw how well the graeae worked in the last game. It opens up lots of strategies for wolves and for humans. A random vigilante should be interesting; is it worth shortening the game to possibly kill of their wolf suspects? Lovers add in a bit of randomness.

    No vote from me.

ShadowedEclipse, where did you come from? I only ask because we typically haven't allowed people to play here with new forum accounts unless an established forum member/TWG player can vouch for them (though I would say that this is up to the game host).

Well, I have been watching for a while (as a guest and more recently created an account so I could possibly join) , and I am very interested in TWG. I looked everywhere for rules about posting for the elections and couldn't find anything, so I wasn't sure if I was allowed to vote or not but thought someone would step in if I was in the wrong. Either way it lets you all know I am here. I know that since I am unestablished and don't have anyone to vouch for me so I will not likely be able to play but that is up to the host (Please?). So I am just a very interested individual who would like to jump into the game, but I know I might have to spend some time on the sidelines before I can actually play. I have lots and lots and lots....and lots....of free time and as soon as I get my personal computer back can be on IRC alot, which should be later today, tommorow at the very latest.

Soul Rider, your game seems pretty straightforward, though what's the point of a mini-game if it has absolutely no connection to the real one? I mean, unless there's some sort of game-related benefit to "winning" the mini-game, there really isn't a point.

Anyway, I like the way <b>EMPDemon</b>'s ideas are progressing... The graeae role seems to balance things out nicely...

Oh, and for those who haven't looked it up yet... The graeae are from old mythology... Bunch of witch-types who all shared one eye that they passed between them... King's Quest IV made interesting use of the story <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

So, I am going to toss a bit of extra info in here.

I think that Transparent minds is FUN, but not enough to tip the balance for wolves in the way that it seems like we need. I also think that limiting it to 2-3 uses for the game is actually a rather big hindrance, though it might be interesting if those usages could be spent on the same night. So wolves have to decide if they want to hold out for using it strategically when they have suspected seers. OR if they want to fire it all off night one and get some extra info.

So long as I am talking about wolf powers I am going to put in a bit of thought:
I think that the powers that give wolves extra info really do NOT tip the game for them. As they stand they already have a good amount of information.
Powers that either limit human intelligence or protect wolves DO.

My one thought on making TM more interesting would be to give the wolves info as soon as it is available. So if they pick the psychic they find out as soon as the host can PM them back. If they pick the Seer then they get the PM same time Seer does (or asap if it was already sent in).

This lets wolves act on their intelligence much faster, as well as aid any attempts at fake seer/psychic ploys.

Originally I wanted to host, but it seems I do not have the time for the moment.

I agree with Thansal in this case with the Transparent Minds. Since it was a completely new ability, I didn't want it to be overpower by finding the seer/psychic so quickly that they completely take over the network. Hence, why I stalled it to be done during the morning.

And just a tidbit of info, Transparent Minds could have been used more than once per night during my hosting. It does allow more options in tactics, but... I would strongly urge that it be devised so that wolves doesn't burn all the Transparent Minds in the first night and finds the identity of the psychic/seer right away.

With that said, I'm not sure who to vote for yet.

    I'll vote for <b>Soul_Rider</b> if i'm allowed.

The reasoning behind a mini game without game altering artifacts is that we have had very nearly two broken games.

Isamil died and a wolf win was denied by the artifact in freak's game that im_lost found, and if the wolves had got the artifact in Theslan's game they would have won that too.

I think the game is fairly balanced in the standard format with the addition of a simple extra wolf power like transparent minds.

My concern with the graeae game is that we have only played 1 game and the wolves won. I guess we'll have to see, but if the wolves win the next couple of games with Graeae in them, we might have to look at balancing it back.

As has already been pointed out by im_lost, the wolves have become much bolder, and are really learning some new tricks, so it might be time to try it with less powers that balance it for them and see if the wolves on this forum can actually win a normal game.

That said, i'd be happy to play in EMP Demon's game should that win. Hopefully i'll make it past night one...

That's a good argument for not using mini games. However, the mini games have been good to have because they force people to chat and try to share information. If the mini game doesn't affect who wins at all, then you lose the bad and the good of it.

I <3 Lovers. Though I find it especially funny when most of the people playing this game are male. Anyway EMP's stories are pretty good, too, so that's a perk.

I'm more than happy for this to end now and for us to just get on with the sign-ups etc, let's just say I won...

    LOL

But seriously, if you just want to get this under way EMP Demon that would be cool. I don't think anyone else wants to play mine.
