Already happens for the alien team, frankly I don't think most want to see it happen for the marines, and this has been proposed before in the old I&S with much of the same response. (hence my aforementioned use of the word "most") For as to why, you need only do a topic search in the ol' I&S forums.

like why not demonstrate how the "Halo 2 regen" works? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh marine regeneration is this about? it seems so. I think marines have already good that medkit/armoryhealth stuff so it would be annoy

You are here to present your idea as water proof as possible, not to throw a steak at starving lions who gladly tear it apart.

I know how the Halo’s shield regeneration works, but Marines don't have shields built into their armour, so what’s your point? That’s why they get welders that fix holes and cracks in the armour. I think something similar to Halo's shield regeneration might be a good way to take Marines armour to level 4 or Super Heavy Armour. BUT, and this is a big BUT (Hamadryas Baboon Style), Aliens have to get something to equal the marines armour at this level, otherwise there is no point.

For anyone who doesn’t know what Halos shield regeneration thing is (which I’m assuming SWAT Pointman is talking about, although I may be wrong), which I imagine is very few of you. It is basically involves taking damage on your shield/armour which if enough is taken the shield drops until it gets a time to recharge, this means that an enemy needs to hit you with a lot of damage all at one point. This makes weapons like pistols useless to anyone who can’t fire off a clip in a matter of seconds and still hit their target with every shot, something that I got pretty good at on the first Halo, especially with it’s scope <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> It would also make skulks pretty useless most of the time. As it can be hard to get a series of bites in unless the other player is standing still, most of the time I find myself running away round a corner (as a skulk) and then coming back to chomp a bit more, that is if it’s one on one. Or just sitting around the corner and waiting for the marine to chase after me. Of course this only works if you don’t get shot in the back after the first <a href="http://thebigsweet.com/Images/BritishProducts/Cadbury/chomp-bar-med.gif" target="_blank">chomp</a>.

Any way, I would say NO! to that idea.

I very much disagree with the idea. It'll just change the game too much changing the way the health system works. What I'm mainly thinking is what INKEDOUT said and because certain things like spores would be useless. I've always liked the health system of NS1 and would like to keep it that way.

The only way anything like this would be implemented is if the marines had a slow constant regeneration like the aliens have, whether researched or simply there from the start. But even then, I would rather keep it the way it is rather than change anything.

Power armor and marine health regen were both scrapped in closed betas due to the fact that they put marines too close to aliens in terms of operation.

    Well there you go.

an evangelion approach for heavy armour and weapons might be fun - they need to be hooked up to a res node to operate, with a distance limit - you could even have a cable as hl2 seems do them well, if disconnected the HA would then have 30-60 seconds to reconnect otherwise it shuts down and would have to get out.

Well, I'm not saying that it won't happen, but... flay is probably going to look at design decisions from NS1 when making NS2, and therefore the chance of getting power armor back is reduced. However, I also wouldn't be surprised if we saw power armor, perhaps in a different form either.

Only if it was Super-Mega-Mega-Powerful-Heavy Armour with like stupidly big built in Onos killing guns! To make up for the fact that they have to be attached to res nodes and only can be used within a certain distance. That way it would be like defensive armour. But I still wouldn't be happy attached to a res node and told to sit tight or die (literally) by my commander, that would suck, and what happened if u were just fixing a res node and then you just picked up some of this armour by mistake and were stuck there for the rest of the game until you die or someone wins the game?

    No.

It would reduce the dependency of the marine team on the comm, and also reduce the number of factors that help make the two sides different (Aliens already regen health)

Nah you wouldn't be stuck there, you could move from node to node, just you'd have to be good at doing it - like you can easily walk from 1 res node to another within 30-60 seconds on most maps. And you could even disconnect from your current node and move to a new node, build a res tower and connect to it. Perhaps armouries or pahse gates could also be used to power the armour/ weapons.
And why not have a button that lets you get out of the armour <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" /> (you can already drop weapons, why not armour/ jps)
