Landing Craft Marine Start

I've been working on the concept of some sort of spaceship or dropship for the marine start. Here is what I've come up with.

K I would first try to make the loading ramp a little less steep (observation 1)

[edit] not just for looks, but I doubt a marine can enter the ship without a jetty

Also, what's inside the ship? Just a Chair? Can we put buildings in the ship? What about hiding skulks?

It's tough I know, but that's just how it is.

Hera's MS used to be outside on the Landing platform after all.

Look cool though, so perhaps for ready room unless that's a really really big drop ship to fit all of MS.

The drop ship concept works best if the ship is inert. Their is no interaction between the player and the object that would affect gameplay. Two means to make such a goal possible is to have the drop ship docked on a landing bay viewable from a window. Example: On the ns_Hera (v1.04) landing pad. On the ns_Metal landing pad. The other option if you don't want to always have a landing pad is to make the ship crashland and have a portion of the ship exposed to the gameplay. The marines could have cut a small hole to crawl out of or found a access door to enter the map through.
Keep in mind with the story that marine reinforcements arrive from a ship in orbit and they are phased over through the IP or beacon. Remembering the storyline presents a thrid option and that would be to have a ship in outerspace visible or partially visible depending on the hull class.

Personal notes. Drop ships may look pleasing but may cause additional problems. They consume resources when compiling that could better be spent on expanding the playable area. Also I was left tossing the rationalization of why are the marines docking and walking when you can just phase over? Unless their is an objective for the marines to restore power, docking was outdated and old practices, marines have the superior technology let's encourage them to use it!

You know, to phase in you first need to establish a frontline base, which needs the command console to hack into the nanogrid and secure the area, and setup infantry portals. From what I've read and seen: Phasing can't take place in the NS universe as far as I know without IPS or PG (not like startrek beaming). First, the recon team sets up a preliminary base and get an IP or two up and running, this is where a dropship or docking comes in.

Even if it is at all possible to phase in without preliminary equipment (devs, shine a little light pls?) would you want to do that on a Kaahra infested ship, where bacteria can interfere with your scans. For all you know you're phasing into a hive area or an onos stomach, with your valuable command console and recon team. I'd go for a safer way to enter a combat zone, assess the situation and setup the frontline defence (using a dropship or dock <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />)

This reminds me of another battlefield unit which can never be replaced, but only improved upon. The one and only beast to conquer and hold ground, the tank.

But hey that's just me talking...

Since I have a Frigate --> Dropship --> CC tray hooked into the ships nanogrid concept going for my maps<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc--><!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->
